using Vinegar as a QD?

On the new cars in the showroom I'll spray on a quick mist of vinegar and wipe off with a MF towel. Gets rid of dust/finger prints... and leaves a bit of a shine. One of my friend's dad's told me that "little secret" years ago.

Wondering if it is possibly bad for the paint? (really doens't seem like it could be from the results I see). And also, I've never used it on a WAXED car (only brand new) would it strip off some of the wax?

good for removing water spots but it also removes wax yep

use vinegar to wash your mf. takes everything out. it's great. wouldn't dream of putting it directly on a car.

well, vinegar can be good TEMPORARILY as a water spot remover, however I would neutralize it with water very quickly after that.

using it as a QD probably would not be the best idea.

It sure is, I hear Kaboom! is great too. Maybe I'll try that when I run out of vinegar. :eek:

Personally, I prefer CLR. It's not as harsh as the Kaboom!

Seriously, vinegar as a QD? You want to enhance the paint, not harm it.:

Geez people come on vinegar is not going to hurt the paint on the car. I use it all the time to take water spots off cars. Im sure its not helping things but its not as if you are going to burn a hole in your clear.

Comparing vinegar and CLR is a hell of a difference.

it's not that acidic. if left on it might be a problem but i don't see it as a huge issue. I would stick to glass though.

My prefered method for hood pitting,dents,chips is about 2 oz of magnesium mixed in with a half pound of rust. Removes them every time. *wink*

what I'm saying is that I wouldn't be using it all the time as a QD, that's all.

for water spots it's the prescribed cure :)

We were joking man, lighten up already! I still don't think using it on paint is a cool idea. Since he works for a dealer he has access to QD supplies. Would you be happy buying an Audi that you found out had vinegar used on it? Maybe yes, maybe you wouldn't.
