Using SSR or 4* USMR remove clearcoat?

While my car is back in the shop I have turned my self on the Wifes Van. The paint is in good condition but has some spider webing and light scratches. I want to use a swirl remover but do they actually remove some of the clear coat averytime you use them?

Thanks,
Jeff

If your worried about buffing the clear coat off , don't , the amount removed is very little. Good luck:bigups Buff Away!

Yes, they do remove a small amount of paint when they are used.
The name kind of fools people, since swirl removers don't really remove swirls. They level the paint around the swirl/scratch by removing a very small amount of the surrounding paint.
Like rollman says, it is very little and it is unlikely that you will ever damage your vehicles paint.

So even if I use it on the entire car say 4 to 5 times a year I should have no problem with going through the clear coat?

that depends on how aggressive a swirl remover you use and what kind of pad or technique you are using

If you like to polish 4-5 times a year then SSR1 or SSR2 would be just fine..use a polishing pad not a cutting pad and then you should have no worries. Cutting pads are good for when you are in a hurry to get the results on deeper swirls and scratches and is often needed for a detailer to complete a job on a clients car, but if it's your car and you have the time to go over it more often and knowing that you will more than likely get more swirls on a daily driver by just simple maintenence, stick with polishing pads and do it as often as you see fit.

I think the Megs Yellow is a polishing pad. Their cutting pad is "maroon" in colour as I recall, so based on what Steve has said, you should be ok.
