Using SSR by hand

Hey Guys,

I've only ever used the SSR line-up with a PC but a guy in my car club wants to try using SSR by hand (I've tried to get him to buy a PC, but no luck), has anyone ever used it by hand and will he see any results on swirls, light scratches?

Thanks

Its works either way but your best results with a PC. I wold suggest that they work in small areas about 12 x 12 inches. This way they can control the product and get better heat, that's a key point for removing swirls.

:yeah

I used SSR 2 by hand the first time I did my V & the old Honda Wagon last summer. It can be done, and with good results, but it is a LOT of hard work to really work the product by hand. And yes, do a small area at a time!!

Good luck to your club-mate!! :)

Just a suggestion. Do a panel for him with the PC and then have him do one by hand. I think he will see the difference in time and appearance and then might be tempted to purchase the PC.

Great idea Greg, I think I'll tape off the hood and we'll each do half and compare :bigups

hey becks,

how come your friend doesnt want to purchase a porter cable anyway?

He's a cheap xxxxxxx :-p I can never understand when someone owns a nice car and spends lots of money tuning it, yet neglects the paint. I've finally managed to teach him how to properly take care of his car, but he thinks $100 for "some polisher" as he calls it, is too much. $90,000 spend on car, but $100 is too much :dunno

Using SSR by hand should you go more abrasive or all of them I cheap too and not ready to commit to a PC yet.
