Using PC in tight spaces

What do you guys recommend you do when using your PC on hard to get spots? Like around door moldings, rear emblems/badges and places you can't really fit to avoid damaging a pad and tearing it apart?

I simply go to the 4" pads. Also, David from Autopia uses the 4" pads via scew driver/adapter for a little rotary action...I'm going to have to give this a try for the first step in tight places.

Or, conversely, use a large pad that overhangs the backing plate. Sometimes it's the housing of the PC that gets in the way, and the larger pad slips in there to do the job (like under sideview mirrors).

But some areas just have to be done by hand, which can be a very slow, tedious process using toothpicks/etc. and tufts of cotton wool (like the cotton balls women use for makeup).
