Using leather products on Vinyl and Plastic?

Is this a good idea? I'm trying to make dash vinyl and door vinyl, etc.. softer and more supple, not just protected from UV rays. Does anyone use leather products for this? I'm thinking of the idea based on humans using lotion on it's skin to condition and soften/moisten. Why not do the same with non-leather materials?

I think the reasoning behind not doing it isn't because it'll harm it or anything but more so becuse the vinyl and plastic aren't organic and really don't asborb anything like skin does. I really can't see any harm in using them if you want to try it out but I'm not thinking it's going to really make plastic and vinyl softer or anything. try it out and let us know though.

FWIW, my understanding is that leather products are safe to use on vinyl surfaces, but that vinyl products are not safe to use on leather.

+1

A lot of leather products also cost more too. I'd stick with a dedicated vinyl product if I were you.
