Used the Makita for the first time

This weekend I used my new Makita rotary for the first time. I started on an old company car just to be safe. I detailed part of the hood and the front of the car before I felt confident enough to use it on my own car.

After a dawn wash I clayed the whole car, after that I gave it another quick wash. Now it was time to get out my new toy :D

I polished the car with PI-III using an 8" polishing pad. After that I went to IMG in combination with a finishing pad. I only had time to do a quick wash and one layer of Z2, but the car looked great.

See for yourselves...

Unfortunately it was a very overcast day so it is difficult to see the reflections.

From what I have seen so far the Makita is a good machine, the build quality is excelent. It doesn't slow down under pressure and its easy to operate. I just need to use it more often to improve my technique.

I just used a rotory for the first time last week (DeWalt). What a difference from the PC. It seems like an eternity when you work compounds with a PC, compared to what seems like seconds with a rotory. Good choice for your practice vehicle!!! I used our company truck to grind on for my practice.

Yep, Rotaries are a little different than an Orbital buffer.

I love my Makita. At first I didn't like the handle but now I probably couldn't live with out it.

i just got the makita recently too. the best thing about it is the weight. i also like the handle because you can hold it in the center which i think makes it easier to control the angle of the pad.:up

Wow, for a second i thought it was a Furd Focus, until i saw those huge rear lights. Are they comparable?

Jon

They are cousins :) The US counterpart to the Mondeo was the Ford Contour. The Contour was discontinued in 2000. The Focus is built on the Contour chasis though as is the Ford Escape SUV. The Mondeo though has since been redesigned so I don't know if it is still on the same chasis.
