use your seatbelt "properly"

I have noticed BMW/MB glass bead water much better than Honda/Toyota glass. I am just wondering how the glass are treated differently in the factory to contribute to this result.

I drove a 1990 300E before and it still beads water like it used to after 11 years.

Many new Lexus vehicles have a "silica-coated" glass the beads water like crazy. Only if they could spray that stuff on their paint :D

My '02 Lexus came with "Water Repellant front door glass," so I guess it's only on the front windows.
Doesn't water always "bead" on glass, and isn't it "sheeting" that we're after?

I got pulled over my a motorcycle cop last month ,apparently he was bored and decided to write me up for" improper seatbelt use "for having the top belt under my arm instead of over the shoulder

I was shocked to find out my fine is 150.00 !:cursing::mad:

Anyway just a warning for anyone who does this too . Im in Ca .

DC, not to preach, but I take safety very seriously. Putting the belt where you did can cause you to break a rib and puncture a lung in a collision. I investigated fatal collisions for several years. You would not want to see what I've seen, trust me. I'm sorry about your ticket, but that was unsafe.

I got a ticket for no seatelt because my passenger wasn't wearing theres. I had mine on, they didn't, but yet I recieved the ticket. Went to Court. Slicked my hair back, splassed on some Aqua-Velva and the female judge musta thought I was super hot, cause she dismissed all charges w/ no court cost :judge:

Yes Richy the cop told me something similar so all in all it got me wear the seatbelt the rightway even though its uncomfortable, so its a good thing .

But I also think riding motorcycles is more unsafe :biggrin:than improper seatbelt use and I just wished he could have given me a warning .

150 bucks is hard on my bank account :)

Good for you Flash , Im glad your good looks dazzled the judge ;)Im betting you had on tight jeans to go with the slicked hair and aqua-velva:D

A couple friends thought I should fight it and go to court but I just paid the fine , ouch :(

why would you wear a seat belt improper way anyway? As you know in CA we are in $19 billion dept, and cops are given instructions to "make it up"...
And they are picky...I just wish a fine for driving without lights at night/nearly night would be $1500, as I see a lot of TOYOTAs (usually camry) in my area being cheap and not using lights, as they will "burn out"...I think a cost of new HID Xenon lights would "remind" them...

You would be surprised at how generous judges can be to give someone a break but then there are times when they are not.

Very true Al. All you really have to do is be respectfull. Show up on time, and your only answers should be yes your Honor. no your Honor :judge:

This does not work however in Southaven MS. They will jam you up but good down there X_X

There's something about an Aqua Velva man...

(No, I'm not coming on to Flash! That's an old Ad jingle)

Your right GG. I'm not really sure if it was my develish good looks or the Aqua Velva burning a hole through her retinas, either way, she told me to beat it and not to ever come back again. Whatever that meant

I used to ride a bike back in the day. It used to be illegal to not wear a helmet. Now you can go without a helmet but it's illegal to not wear a safety belt. Back during my (very short) foolish youth... a friend I worked with was begging for a ride home. We were waiters at the same restaurant. So to deceive the police officers (as long as they didn't get within a block or so) I made him wear about 10 coffee filters, bunched up and strapped with scotch tape. Luckily it was only about a five mile drive and I took back roads where I could.

Riding a bike there are a lot of blind fools on the road. I got wacked my fair share of times. I saw somebody else get wacked and lets just say that story should go untold for everybodys sake. It was truly disturbing... I was the second person on the scene about 30 seconds after it happened and no paramedics or cops there yet...

I tried to get my wife to wear a safety belt for years. But you just can't make people do things they don't want to do. Of course if she ever gets wacked good by another car and doesn't have it on she won't be the only one dealing with that stupid decision. Think of your loved ones people!

CEEDOG , sorry you had to witness a bad accident.

My ex told me a similar story but with a happy ending . His friend went down on the freeway and when he went back to help his buddy expecting the worse his entire leathers were shredded right off him but he was amazingly ok other than being scraped up a little . Had he not had leathers on, his skin would have been hamburger. That story made me wear leather pants and jacket every time I rode after that , also got a really good helmet with a chin gard .

Ultimately I stopped riding after a drunk driver hit me and flipped/ totaled my van. I knew Id be in serious trouble had he hit me on my bike.

Anyway Im sure you could get a cop to give your wife a seatbelt ticket and get her straightend out LOL It sure got me to wear mine properly :D
