Use Dawn when applying new brand of wax?

I currently have Meguiars on my TT and I'm switching it to P21S, would you think using Dawn to strip the old wax is a good idea or can I just layer it? The paint is in perfect condition, no bumps or roughness at all.

I wouldn't bother with Dawn unless you plan on switching over to Zaino. Regular car wash soap it much more finish friendly.



I would use the P21S GEPC first though. Not only will it improve the shine over straight P21S and make the wax glide with ease, but it should remove any old wax that is still there.

Wise men have said that Dawn belongs in the kitchen. I agrree.



The pH of Dawn is much too high/harsh for automotive finishes.



Scottwax's suggestion is quite valid.
