Usage order for products....

Ok, I should be receiving my Souveran kit today. It comes with the PPCL.

I plan on claying my car, I know that comes first after I wash. Now, I am usually pretty good at this kind of stuff, but I am using products now that I haven't used before.

I will be using 3m's SMR and PPCL which one do I use first? I am guessing the SMR, and the follow up with the PPCL..... is the PPCL more of a polish?

Should I wash between the SMR and PPCL?

Then I will see what all the hype is with Souveran.

Am I missing anything?

You have the idea down pretty well. Use the SMR to remove the swirlls from the clear coat, then use the PPCL to fill in what is left. out of those two, the SMR is the abrasive, if you use the PPCL first then use the SMR, the SMR will remove the PPCL. really SMR has it's own fillers which means you don't really need the PPCL. But i like to use it. The PPCL will remove what ever residue you couldn't get off from the SMR, it goes on and off really easy. There isn't much of a reason to wash between those two products, the PPCL is a cleaner so will do the job just fine. Also make sure and wash again with dawn after you clay, it's not totally necessary, but i find it works. After the claying process you will have lots of residue from your clay on your car, the SMR or PPCL will remove it, but it's easier to get rid of all that residue with dawn and lots of flowing water first so it doesn't make it's way into your pads. I think you'll be very impressed with Souveren. What kind of car and what color?

Thanks for your response.
I used the Meguiars #9 smr friday, it took care of a good amount of the swirls, but there are some deeper ones that I am hoping the 3M will take care of. I used a PC on it. First time using it, whew, what a time saver. Fun too, so I am looking for every reason to play with it. Hence the SMR and PPCL.

My car is a Black 97 Nissan 240sx. Paint looks pretty good (for black that is), as I have taken care of it reasonably well. Only thing is, Ny winters suck, so I brought it to the carwash a couple of times. I am pretty sure that is where the deeper swirls come from. But being that I am here now, I promise not to do it again. :nono
