Usable microfiber lifetime?

Detail time!
How long would you use a particular microfiber towel before demoting it to glass, wheels, engine duty? I have a large supply of quality microfibers and I don't think I'd be able to use them in grungy areas, even if the towel is at the end of its life... which I am still trying to figure when this is... I'm sure proper care is needed to ensure maxium MF life. I have towels that are 2 years old and are still in great condition and I have no problem using them on the paint. How long will they last? I've got to stop buying towels if they keep lasting this long, I'm going to run out of storage space.

I have some that are better than 5 years old and work just fine. I think that how you maintain them and what you use them for will determine their ability to last :) ...and you can never have enough mf ;)

Fortunately, I haven't had any microfiber towels meet their demise due to old age. The second I don't think it's good enough for my paint is the second they go into the grunge pile. Like Steve said, maintenance and use will determine how long they'll be around.

I also have several five years old that are just fine. Some are a few months old and I've screwed them up royally with brake dust and the like. Once no amount of soaking will clean them they are dedicated to more grunge work from that point on.
