USAA's car price finder

Has anybody seen / used this service before?

Apparently it's a lot like Edmunds where you tell them what car you want to buy and they "pre-negotiate" a price for you. Of course you have to take that to the dealership and continue to negotiate, so I don't quite understand its usefulness.

For example, a 2010 Acura TSX which has a sticker of $33,2xx has a USAA price of $29,6xx. I guess you're supposed to go in there with that price and say "This is what I want to pay."

I'm worried that this tactic will have me hit with big document fees, "prep" fees, etc. What do you all think?

Or on a completely different note, how likely is it that I can get them to draw up the entire contract so I can see all of the numbers before committing to anything? I want to see what kind of BS charges they hit me with before we get too far along.

mmm in terms of negotiations--it's really all about maneuvering really...I don't see why you can't be up front with the dealer and let em know you don't want to be bothered by all the retarded fees--I mean my friend and his family in Jersey had a dealer who fulfilled that request and the family goes to him exclusively since...I mean is there some kind of law that says you can't?

The idea was just that this is an easy way to get the "best" price.

FWIW we purchased the car and the USAA price is pretty much what we got the car for.

When I sold cars I loved it when people walked in with a car buyers service price. They would be all bad *** with a HUGE attitude Saying sell me this car at this price Or Im walking... Most of the time I sold the same exact car for $1000 cheaper the day before.
