UPP, WG, FMJ - compare ?

I've used both UPP and WG and was wondering how they compare to FMJ - for anyone who has used all three.

IMO - UPP is very slick and easy to remove. WG is a bit less slick and a bit less 'oily' as well and just as easy to remove. WG looks a little more like a carnuba. But I like both equally. Both take about the same drying time - maybe a tad less with WG.

I was thinking of trying FMJ.

Thanks

FMJ is the brightest of the three.

Very nice color depth when prepped correctly and the clarity of relfections is notable. It's definately a "harder" looking shine compared to the softer looks of WG. I got 2 months of great beading and slickness (no drop off) before I stripped it all.

Oh yeah, FMJ is a breeze to use and you use VERY little.

The only thing that I don't like about FMJ is the price. If it was at the same price point as UPP or WG, I'd buy FMJ every time. It's a really good looking, durable sealer and super easy to work with. The up-side is that a 16oz bottle will last a LONG time.

Ive got FMJ on both of my cars. Im still testing the durability. A good product in my opinion. And yes the price is higher than others. However, I think there are two ways to look at it. #1 On the surface you might say gee 40 bucks compared to 20 bucks, I cant justify it. Or #2 we spend 10, 20, or 30 grand on a car and balk at a $40 price tag to add protection to our investment.

I used fmj this weekend and if you check my post in the click and brag section I think the results speak for themselves. Even though last night it did rain, this morning my car still was pretty slick and I noticed it has remained pretty clean all week. It is very good by not attracting dust and makes the car easier to clean. I probably would not use it if I detail a minivan but when I work on an enthusiasts car i think they will be very happy. I too will post as to the durability of the product, but so far so good.

Any one care to compare durability of the 3 and maybe throw Klasse SG in the comparison mix? I have SG on my car for the winter and have a bottle of UPP that was going to be my spring/summer sealant.

FMJ outlasted WG .. was a better wet shine over #80 than WG and I don't know about outlasting Klasse because all my Klasse applications were 2x or better .. I just had 1x on the FMJ.

Of course Victory...

I have used all 3. The winner would have to be FMJ.

I was very happy with WG as far as ease of use and looks, but I found the durability to be minimal at best. WG IMO is very slick and wet looking.

UPP is a very good product, close to slickness IMO to WG, but appears to have a much better durability factor. I found UPP easy to apply and remove, and was very slick.

But my God is FMJ incredible. Nothing IMO comes close to this stuff. This stuff spreads and spreads and spreads before having to put more on the applicator. This stuff is very easy to apply very thin coats. And I have found nothing that is easier to remove than the FMJ, truly a league of it's own! Now I know a lot of people including myself have stayed away due to the price of FMJ, but IMO it;s worth it. And now that Pakshak and CMA will have it in quarts for around $49.95 soon, that makes it even better deal and I will pick up a couple for myself. If FMJ has decent durability, it's the best IMO. And I heard you want some pics, here some pics of 12 year old paint.

I have used both Wolfgang and FMJ. I do not think that you can compare the two,. The FMJ cost twice as much as Wolfgang. They are both very good but I do not see twice the shine or depth. For some people with deep pockets FMJ is fine, but I will stick with Wolfgang.

:hm That's kind of an outdated response. Have you heard of new pricing on FMJ. Here are the prices below, tell me how you have to have deep pockets to have FMJ now.:nixweiss I could have agreed with that comment before the new pricing, as far as price. But I do see a better overall appearance with FMJ by quite a bit, IMO. With an $8 difference, I will take the FMJ any day. I do like WG, don't get me wrong, but I don't like the lack of durability.

32oz of WG $36.95 w/autopia discount

32oz of FMJ $44.95 w/autopia discount

I have heard that FMJ should be available sometime in March '05. Retail price has yet to be determined.

There are three basic issues here: ease of use, looks, and durability. In terms of ease of use, both WG and UPP are extremely user friendly. It is difficult to believe that FMJ (or any product for that matter) could be a whole lot easier to use than UPP. So, this aspect of the equation can be pretty much ignored.

Durability, I'm told that WG is not all that durable, although UPP seems to hang in there pretty well. If any of these products matches KSG in that regard, I'll be surprised.

To me, it all comes down to looks. If FMJ looks a heck of a lot better on your car, it might be worth twice as much. But, UPP and WG both look great on most cars. I suspect that, at the end of the day, FMJ won't look better - just different.

Having used UPP, SG , and FMJ just recently, I am definitely impressed most by the FMJ. Just superior. I don't have Wolfgang nor will I buy it. I know the durability will not be there as its water based. I use those 3 because not only do they look great, you get long lasting protection. Rock on FMJ
