UPP Spray

Mad iX

No detail for you!!!
My order with UPPS arrived last week, I gave it a spin this weekend and to be honest I expected more but to be fair it is a good product on its own.

Was doing a detail and after polishing, I applied UPPS. Goes on nice and easy, just like most QDs. Part of the car was left in the sun and weather was quite warm (approaching Summer here). After a while I checked on it and took some pics. Finish was very nice. Nice wet-look like UPP. Not much depth but on gold metallic I didn't expect much. Reflective qualities are nice. What surprised me was the lack of slickness.

Maybe it needed to cure a bit more but I didn't want to wait, so I applied regular UPP spit-shine method using UPPS. 5 minutes to apply and remove (plus drying time). Came out super slick the way I like it. Looks were improved slightly. Much happier this time.

I don't think UPPS is suitable as a standalone LSP, but should be very nice to maintain a UPP finish. I will definitely be using it a lot so my opinion might (or might not) change from this one use of UPPS so far.

All the pics are on my other computer which is acting up atm, so I'll post the full detail later on.

Thanks for the review. I am a little upset to hear that slickness isn't up to par with the regular version. Maybe it would be good as a product to use after washing when UPP is the sealant being used.

Mad, the UPPS cures with sun and air, like most. I would expect additional slickness after a day or so..........Dont expect additional depth as that should come from your prep. But its reflective qualities are great, and very sharp. Its made more for those who dont wish to spend the additional time via PC, cure, and removal. I mean you can realistically, LSP your entire car in about 10 minutes. So it wouldnt be fair to expect UPP from UPPS, there just a little different.............:woot: :2thumbs:

Good point. I just checked the AG website and it said this:

"The unique polymer formula is heat-activated and will actually become slicker if the vehicle is allowed to cure in the sun for an hour after application. Much like melted sugar forms a hard shell, the sealant will gloss over as it cures in the sunlight. After it cures, apply another coat to deepen the gloss even more."

Has anyone tried UPPS over regular UPP? I would like to know if the regular UPP's slickness is affected with the application of the spray version.

I agree with that. I bet slickness does improve but I love that crazy slick feeling you get after buffing UPP and I wanted it asap. I had left it for over an hour but wasn't satisfied.

In my limited use of UPPS so far it's no replacement for UPP but complements it nicely. So you could say it's more of a "Z8" than "OCW" product.
