UPP attracts Bugs?

I finished up detailing my baby ('04 Hyundai Santa Fe) for the summer early this morning. It was a full bore wash, clay, polish, and seal with 4-star UPP. Well I got up and pulled the car into the driveway to see it in the light and the car was COVERED in tiny bugs. And I don't mean one or two...probably 40 to 50! I'm not exactly sure what they are; they move like fleas but they have wings and seem to be waaay too small for that (about the size of .. those two periods put together). They look a lot like fruit flies.

This is the first time I've ever had bugs be attracted to a car that has had 4-star UPP applied to it. It's freakin' irritating. Has anybody else had this happen to them?

:thx

I think it might be the dressing I used on the plastic wheel arches. Stuff smells like blueberries and from what I can tell, UPP has no discernible smell.

I have a problem with insects as well. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't use the hood as a bathroom. The product scents likely do contribute to the attraction. I think insects are color blind like dogs, perhaps they just see the reflection and associate it with water, which they need to drink a lot of. It's hard to imagine what a car would look like through eyes no bigger than the head of a pin. Anyway, I'm much more annoyed by dust and pollen. I'd suggest hanging a bug zapper in the vicinity of your car. Hopefully the attraction of the bug light will be greater than your car.

Are you refering to Ultima Paint Guard Plus? I have used it without and ug attraction issues and I live a few hundred feet off the water where bugs abound in the summer.

I've never noticed insect attraction with Four-Star UPP. I *have* noticed that it's not very resistent to bug-guts etching, but that's a different rant...

I bet it *is* the wheel arch dressing.

Souveran has attracted insects for me plenty of times, and yeah, it can be irritating.
