updating my pads

ok guys, i'm looking to replace some of my pads.. i currently use edge 2k pads that i have had for like 6 years now. the are still in great shape, just looking to start updating some of them.. was looking for some advice as there are so many different styles of pads, i use a pc 7424 too by the way and prefer the 6-6.5 pad size.. im looking at the ccs or the kompressor pads.. what u guys think?

Ever thought of trying Meguiars Pads.

I've used them with great success.

I also have some LC pads as well - white, black and orange.

Agreed. Especially the new SoftBuff 2.0 pads are VERY nice. I've got more of them than anything else in my pad collection. I do keep some LCs around as well for circumstances where I need a different sort of cut.

I never tried the Megs pads before because I have read soooo many posts about them falling apart while being washed.

I tried the CCS pad and it did not hold up well.
I have several of the old LC-VC pads in 6.5 that I have used for years and they are still good.

yep same here, i have had good luck with the edge pads. but havent ever tryed any others. was just thinking bout trying another brand this go round. looking at the maguiars but they dont offer much in the 6" though.. not sure how well any larger ones will work with my pc.. the ccs pads look preey good and havent read any bad reviews on them yet.

the new 2.0 pads are machine washable.

I've never had a problem with the old ones falling apart when being washed.

They make 4", 6.5" and 7" pads. Those are my choice.

I've used the Meg's Soft Buff polishing pads for years. I like them and by handwashing I've yet to have a velcro failure (knocking on wood as I type that). One thing of note on the 2.0 version pads. Specifically the polishing pad foam is the same as the previous version (AFAIK - the burgandy pads received the new foam) so you are paying extra for a slightly larger pad, which IMO will not be an improvement coupled with a DA. I wish Meguiar's would have knocked the pad size down (to say 6" or 5.5") rather than up for the DA users.

I've got the orange and white CCS pads. I like them OK. No problems with them thus far with a fair amount of mileage out of them.

I have no first hand experience, but the Hydro-Tech trio (will be a trio when the Red finishing pad is released) appear promising.
