Unused, unopened OptiCoat...still good?

I have a tube of OptiCoat 2.0 that has never been opened. Batch code seems to indicate March of 2011, so its a little over 4 years old.

Ive seen some people say its fine as long as crystal clear, others say its fine as long as its still liquid, etc.

Below is a pic of the tube.

It's supposed to be good indefinitely, as long as it's not exposed to air/moisture (moisture makes it cure). I got the threads crusted up on one of mine, and I didn't realize the cap wasn't down all the way, so it turned to a gel on me (well, kind of a mixture of gel and liquid). I was still able to use it on some wheels, but it wasn't as easy to use as normal.

Anyway, if it's still liquid it should be fine.
 
Yours looks like it has a brown tint to it.

Funny you mention that, mine actually looks a little gel-like if I move the syringe around. Cap is tight on there and has never been removed, it might just be because its so old. Never seen heat or sun.

I might just relegate it to using on wheels. Too bad though, since its more "permanent" than whatever I can buy now.

Oh crap. I had bought some when it was discontinued because I wanted to have some for wheels, and the air bubbles seemed awful big, but I said to myself, hey that's the factory air bubble, that can't do any harm, I'm not going to try to squeeze it out because I'm going to have more problems that way, it will last forever, etc. Now you're telling me you never opened yours and it gelled--I'd better go look in the vault at mine!
 
Yeah it never even dawned on me to try and squeeze out the air when I first got it.

Faced with 700.00 to have a detailer apply OptiCoat Pro or just DIY it and "settle" for 2 year-ish products like GlassCoat, 22ple, etc.
 
For what its worth, Optimum Technologies went through a bad batch of syringes that either leaked or let air from the back end, into the syringe..
I had to send back a few for that reason, and they were always there to make it right..
If you know or have the receipt of when you bought it, perhaps email them and ask them about this..
I still have some from perhaps 4 years ago and its perfect, no air bubbles..

Thanks for that info, I shot them an email....I figure its worth a shot.

Kinda excited regardless....I havent detailed anything in a while. OptiCoat Pro on my daily driver works and looks so good, I dont really do much other than basic interior cleaning.
