"The Sauce Pro" - The product utilizes Polytetrafluoroethylene, Silicon and Paraffin"

8 years out of a product that contains PTFE & Paraffin? Color me skeptical but i guess ya never know.

"Catching fire on Facebook..." is also often a less than rousing endorsement

I totally don’t blame you for your skepticism. It’s a tall claim without a doubt. I can say one thing though is that Joel Accuardi (the owner) is a highly regarded detailer. If this product didn’t perform as advertised this will certainly harm his reputation. But, if you look at it subjectively, this could be a very viable option for many people.

Like Budget, I`m pretty skeptical also.I don`t think any/many pro-only coatings afford that long of a protection and they cost a heck of a lot more. But on the flip side, at that price and if the coating last only half the stated time, it would be a game changer. Thanks for posting.

bob m - exactly my thoughts. From a marketing perspective it’s really quite different than most coatings. (cost & application)

It’s cool they went a different route. There are some interesting coating out there that include rubber, kerosene, SIO2, TIO2, SIC, Graphene, SI14, acrylic, tin, fluorine, 2 part coating with catalyst and now PTFE.

Coating are a lot like engine additives

PTFE has been in coatings long before SiO2.

Did they test it for 8 years first ??

I`d be very curious how they extrapolate that claim. In fact how do any of the companies do that for said coatings?

24 hour sun lamps with high UV content. Freeze/thaw cycles. Constant rain. Easy to get months of worse case scenarios in days but years would take a little longer. And then there’s marketing, which may not even pay attention to the testing. :)

Lol exactly. It is the flavor of the month and I am sure we will see it in hyped up by the youtubers as the next best thing. Right now they are on the TW 1 million waxes + ceramic + graphene train to due their paid advertisement lol.

A friend of mine got this and he said it was easy to work with. Again nothing really new here other than another coating on the market.

We heard the same thing about hydrosilex when that came out. Pretty underwhelming when it came out and it just lost traction. Again flavor of the month. Good luck to him though as it generates income for him to live off of so that is smart.

They probably used the same scrub test that Adams and Ethos used to claim 7+ years or whatever is on their coating lol. This multi year claim is getting out of hand and is ridiculous. Just as ridiculous as the hardness claims.

Claim 8 years; if it lasts two, you`ve already sold enough product that you don`t really care what the actual life is. Or maybe it will last 8 years if it`s housed in a climate controlled garage and only taken out on 10 sunny days a year...Color me hugely skeptical.

Some companies will use a `wash simulator` or a yearly use/wear simulator. Yep, like dgage stated, how most will get to their `claims` of longevity. I`m still happy if a coating will stand up for 2-3 years, 2 max without any maintenance/boosters.

I`m still into coatings though...

What do you mean by the same scrub test as Adams and Ethos? Are you saying they use an inferior test and their products won’t last as long as their claims?

A coating that is “easy to work with” IS something “new” in and of itself. What coating can be applied to the entire car, walk away and come back to level? Most coatings (especially long lasting ones) have a learning curve and can be pretty challenging with humidity and temperature. Applied in small sections even. This one can be applied out in the sun. That alone give it a whole nother characteristic different from anything else.

I think it’s undiscerning to compare a spray sealant to a paint coating. Especially one that gravitated to consumers vs professional detailers. Hydrosilex, like F11, is from a pure social media marketing machine, targeting consumers. Underdog is from a well respected and very popular detailer known for supporting reputable brands. Professional detailers have been giving this product high praise. Apples to oranges IMO.

8 years lasting. i dont know about you guys but i LIKE to wax my car . in 8 years ill be dead and buried. i got stuff that supposed to last 7 years , i did my sisters black truck a year ago , and it needs it again , everthing clay polish and coating.
