Ultima'd 2003 Nissan 350Z

This is a detail I did today of a 2003 Nissan 350Z. The car is owned by the Vice President of our local Z club. The car is in immaculate shape and is a true show car. Believe it or not its a daily driver. The weather here in the Northeast is brutally cold today so thankfully the client had access to a heated garage to work on. The car being in such good shape made the detail a breeze. The car is set to have a Greddy body modifications in the upcoming weeks. The parts are being prepped at the body shop now.

This was the second car that I detailed with Ultima products. I have been using the Interior Guard on the interior of my Toyota 4Runner. I love the nice matte look that it gives. The PGP and PPP are a breeze to use. I was hoping to see how the car looked after it had sometime to set up. The pics are only after one coat.

Time: 4 hours

Wash with 2 bucket method and Ultima wash soap

Wheels cleaned with Ultima soap

Clay with Pinnacle Clay

Polish with UDM and white Pad with Ultima Paint Prep Plus (PPP)

LSP=Ultima Paint Guard Plus (PGP)

Wheels Dressed with Optimum Tire Dressing (Verison 2)

Wheel Wells dressed with Street Appeal Tire Dressing

Interior cleaned with Woolite 6/1

Interior dressed with Ultima Interior Guard Plus

Glass polished with PC and 4 inch pad with 1Z Glas Polish

Glass cleaned with Megs NXT Glass Cleaner

Metal polished with Megs NXT Metal Polish

Plastic cleaned with Megs Plastix

Engine wiped down and dressed with Ultima Trim and Tire

Nice ride, just needs to lose those big Meg's stickers...

Actually the car is sponsored by Meguiars. The stickers on the car are a requirement for show events.

I think I'd have to miss out on that sponsorship... Those stickers are just a bit to much for me...

You did do a good job cleaning it up though... Are you going to top it with anything else??

How can he keep those stickers knowing that nothing used on the car is Meguiars? Does Meguairs mandate that he use their products?

Nice car. Do 2-3 more coats of UPGP 12 hours apart and you will be blown away. Also, I recommend hitting it with some Z8 after the last coat of UPGP has fully cured. Z8 will add more wetness and depth and it works very well with UPGP.

Actually several Megs products were used on the car. NXT Glass cleaner for the windows, NXT metal polish for a quick cleanup of the metal pieces, and Megs Plexus for some plastic pieces. I just didn't list them. The client traditionally had always cared for the car with NXT Tech Wax. Since I was detailing the car for the client I wanted to try something new. For all I know the client will go back to all Meguiars products.

Nice Pat. How'd the PGP apply for you?

Chris...very easy. I used it with a white polishing pad. It removed alot of the micro marring. Buffed off very easy.

As owner of the car, I can tell you that I am constantly trying other products to see how they compare to the Meguiar's products that I use. Even though the car was detailed with some Ultima products yesterday, there were many Meguiar's products used on the car as well. After Pat worked on the car, I re-cleaned the interior and went back to the Meg's #40 that I've been using, since I didn't like the way the Ultima interior dressing looked.

When I detail the car next time, I'll be using Meguiar's NXT, which is what I've been using on the car for the past several years. Hope that answers your question :)

Sorry Chris I thought you meant the PPP. PGP went on very easy. I applied with a small rectangle blue MF app. There were a few spots that I prob put it on too heavy. I just wiped quick with a MF towel. I wish I could have seen the car after it had a chance to set up.

nice looking car but how did you get the megs sponsorship? Usually cars have to be pretty built to the teeth to get sponsored.

The car is somewhat of a “sleeper. There are a lot more modifications done to it than you would think. I’ve tried to keep the car “clean and tasteful looking. You can see the list of mods if you click on the link under my signature. The car’s award record and the condition that it’s in is why Meguiar’s awarded it a sponsorship. The car also has a few other contributors who have helped along the way.

While I’m at it, I’d like to thank Pat for the wonderful detail job. His work is impressive :2thumbs:
