First off, I`d like to sincerely thank Autopia and staff for sending me this product (per the giveaway) in exchange of an honest review!
So... This is one of the two promised reviews... My results are intriguing to say the least, and I am sure many people will find this review informative.
After a multi day session detailing, I finally have some time to sit down and do a proper review, I recieved the product last week and was expecting to write this yesterday but.. yeah... here we are! Monday night reviews!
The subject is my wife`s beloved Surface Pro 4 that I have purchased as a gift for her birthday in May, yeah, that is 5 full months and some days of daily touching... Mmmm... smooth glass...
As you can see, its definitely oily and printy if you get what I mean. She uses it in the kitchen as well to watch shows, or look up recipes if she cooks.
So where is the contender??!?... well here she it, microfiber and all...
Wait... whats this?!?! A wild free screen cleaner appeared! (came with my screen protector for my phone ages ago...)
Very similar products outside of the size, don`t you agree? It`s only natural for me to compare them and see what will happen!
Oh what comes next, we all love... we love this type of stuff so much!
YES! IT`S A 50/50 TAPE LINE!!!
The procedure of the test is simple:
Fold microfiber
Get some product on said microfiber
Rub for about 10 seconds or 10 passes (I just wiped it until I did`t really see much happening)
Flip microfiber, and buff until nice and dry, and then a few extra passes for good measure
The results are...seriously interesting. I couldn`t believe my eyes!... well so I took some photos and we can all look at it together, and discuss!
First the Ultima Screen Clean and Protect:
What`s that on the screen... hmm...
Then the no brand challenger:
No, seriously. Its very clear... wait let me get a better shot and bring out my light stick...
Here is the semi money shot...
Uh.. there is a film of smudgy looking stuff on the screen for the Ultima product :dunno:
After some hard buffing for the Ultima side, and light buffing on the no-brander side...
They look equal... but wait! THERES MORE!
How can we forget the FINGERPRINT TEST! I LOVE TOUCHING CLEAN GLASS!
Perhaps the film that had to be buffed out with some minor effort... is part of the protective film it leaves behind, because... it is considerably more paw resistant.
And now the MONEY SHOT:
Bam! that concludes it, k thanks bye!
Just kidding... How can this be a review without conclusions and recommendations!!!
After the test, I sprayed the screen with half a mist of Ultima SC&P and it left the same haze on the full screen, which required buffing to clear up... So I am sure it`s not a fluke.
Conclusion: The product is slightly difficult to use due to the extra "buff out" session, but the protection it leaves behind isn`t just all talk, it was able to repel prints a bit better than off brand products. Whether or not it is worth the money is yet to be seen.
Recommendations: Buff twice and buy if you don`t mind the effort and want the extra finger print resistance. New fingerprints buffed off equally easy on both sides... YMMV.
Hope you guys enjoyed my first review at autopia.org and feel free to discuss the results, questions, comments, and constructive criticism are very welcomed! Thank you for your time!
