Udm And Pad Advice

My UDM has polished about 6 cars and my pads are flying off already.. I really like my LC pads but they are too big I think for the UDM because they flop around to much and make it hard to hold. When I put on my WG pads I had that are about 6" my UDM worked much better.
So my question is what are the best pad choices for the UDM amd does anyone know if LC is making plans to make pads for the UDM ? I like the LC curved adge non waffle pads myself but they are to big IMO.

Glen- Are you using a urathane flexible backing plate??? I have a hard BP on my PC and a flexible on the UDM and have had one pad fly off... I've never had this problem with the PC with the solid backing plate, so it may be due to the flexible backing plate. It also may have nothing to do with it and the UDM may be too powerful for pads ...

BTW- the pad that came off was a 7.5" polishing pad. I've used many 5.5" pads with a solid 5" BP with no issues.

Also, I have been trying to get LC to make the variable contour pads in a smaller size from the 7.5" and 8.5" pads. A 5 or 6 inch LC VC pad would be great!

I use 5-in LC CCS pads with my UDM without any issues with the backing plate that came with the UDM. I never needed to go over speed 5 either.

Well they were 7.5 lc and the smaller ccs pads also but it was on speed 6 but they flew off and they are brand new so this sucked.
Yes its the soft backing plate on the udm that comes with it.
I would be ALL OVER 5.5 or 6.5pads also with the smooth pad and curved edgesby lc
I ordered another backing plate but can not understand why it is not holding the pads after only 6 uses.
This became a detail from h@ll needless to say.

Here is some speculation. The UDM counter weight is sub-optimal as noted by David B. He reported: "Fixed counter weight design... working on it and will have an upgrade that supports multiple adapter/pad weight combinations."

As I read it, the more mass on the end the more likely an issue. If you are using large pads, you may be seeing the effects of this. I have seen no complaints about this with 6-in or less standard foam pads.
