UCoat-It Garage Pics - finally!

Well, after 3 days of work, I finally finished it. It's light gray with granite fleks. If I had a chance to do it again, I would not use the fleks, maybe it's just me? Overall I am happy with the results! It said it will take a total of 7-10 days for full cure:cooleek:

Day 1: I did 2 rounds of de-greaser and rented a power scrubber with black pad from Home Depot, it definitely made prepping/cleaning the garage ALOT easier. Then a muratic acid wash according to instructions. I then applied the base coat to a damp floor, it is normal for the roller marks and they basically serves as a primer coat.

Day 2: It took about 16 hours for the 1st coat to dry, then the 2nd coat (Finish Coat) and the fleks, I went a little crazy on the fleks, used too much and some of it clumped up when I tossed it up in the air.

Day 3: The UGloss-AF coat which basically seals in the fleks and the previous 2 coats, it really gives it an awesome shine and pop!

not edited for bad spelling and grammar and my digital camera doesn't like my garage lighting, gives it a yellowish tint :rofl

Just remember, no wax on that floor for 2months. :)

We have that floor in our garage, but not the stuff that seals in the flakes. It looks like sh!t now b/c the flakes are peeling up.

What was the total cost of it all?

it was $522 shipped from Michigan to Ohio, I could have brought the Rustoleum for $140 from Home Depot. But, I wanted something that was multi-step, only time will tell how it holds up. :)

Was your floor bare or did you have another coating on the floor before you did this? I have a cheap contractor grade paint on my 15 yr old floor, some of it is worn away. I guess I would need to strip the old paint off before doing something like this.

Does it come in different colors?

it's new construction, so no stripping and the concrete is only about a year old and check out UCoat It America - Garage and Concrete Floor Coatings they have a color simulator and cost estimator, the CS is EXCELLENT, always answers the phone, even on weekends!

as for slippery, that do give you a little bottle of aluminum oxide to add traction, but i decided not to use it, it makes cleaning the floor harder.

7-10 days before i can park on it.

Looks GREAT!

The first time I painted my garage with epoxy I took the OTC Home Depot (i.e. cheap) route. 1 year later I had a mess. Hot tire paint lift, spots were peeling, winter slush would bubble the floor & lift the paint. It took me a lot of time to remove the Home Depot floor product and prep for U-Coat-It, but it was worth it. I haven't had a single problem. It's durable, looks great, and clean up is a breeze. I'm looking to apply a top coat and some flake this year. I really like the look.

Again, great job! I think you'll be very happy with your investment for many, many years

.

i used U-Coat-It a few years ago and haven't had a single area that lifted. Yours looks great. Just be careful when wet!!!

thanks everyone, it was easy to apply because the pot life is 60 minutes, so it forces you to work fast, so no beer breaks :) i do like the gloss/topcoat as it gives it an extra durability and the shine is great!

I also want to do this, but what do I do with my 2 cars, work bench, and Gorilla Rack for the 7-10 days of cure time? Could a person do 1 side of a 2-car garage at a time?

you definitely can! in the instructions you can measure it out for using only half of the product at a time. i moved most of my junk to my next door neighbor's garage, that made it easy!

updated: after 30 hours of dry time, it's so reflective and wet :spot

i just was looking at the kits they do seem a bit xpensive but from the look of your garage and how u documented the process its uneal and probably is worth it..

What product did you use where there is not a top coat for the flakes? I have used UCoat It and you have to top coat the floor with the clear coat if you use the flakes.

The floor looks great!
