Type of Water Filter Media

i just got an in-line water filter for the hose. it takes std cartridges.

What type of cartridge should i get. they have sediment filters (paper or string) and charcoal filters.

LJ, there are many types of filter out there so you need to find the one that's for your purpose (washing the car). Charcoal filter usually will not remove all the minerals like the reverse osmosis one.
 
I don't think and in line filter will remove your hard water. As far as I know the only way to remove hard water is to get a softner. Even with a softner you still won't get a spot free finish. The only way to achieve spot free finish is to get an RO system. Good Luck
