Turtle Wax Tire Wax

I've been using this stuff for a while now and like both the look and durability but I'm concerned that it may not be good for long term use on my tires. I e-mail Turtle Wax asking for some information but never received a reply. Does anyone here use it or know anything about it? Any information I can get would be appriciated. Below is a link to the product.

ive heard a lot of people rave about it. but like u, my main concern would be the after effect. something that stays on that long really makes me wonder if its all that good for my tires...

i used it way back when. I didnt like it at all. I found it slung and it didng have good durablity for me. It was also a little to greasy and messy for me.

Greg, that's very surprising. It has never slung and I've been using it for a while now. It has always left a very matt dry look for me, not greasy at all.

Read the label. If it says "contains petroleum distillates" or "flamable"/"don't use near open flame" blah blah... then it has solvents in it. Overtime the solvents will break down the rubber. They can also stain paint and trim if they sling but a good detailer should wipe the tire down so that doesn't happen. My advice is to use only water based dressings. Let us know what the label says on the TW product.

I use a turtle wax wet n' black... I find that it has a bit too much gloss to it. But i do believe it's water based. the only bad thing about it is that it's in a spritz bottle....your hand kind of cramps up a bit after two coats on all four wheels

Raven,

I have the MSDS sheet for this product. It's in PDF format. Email me if you'd like a copy.

It does contain Petroleum Distillates (65-75% PPM), contains solvents, silicones, additives.

Health precautions: wear appoved mask, gloves, goggles.
