Turtle Wax LIQUID claybar

I work at an auto parts store, and today we got a shipment of brand new products in. Among them was Turtle Wax Liquid Claybar which caught my eye.

I have a pic ill have to upload later, but it comes in the same bottle as the Turtle Wax ICE, and has an applicator a long with it.

Has anyone tried it out?

Liquid Clay bar by Turtle Wax...think I may have to pass on this one. But prove me wrong. Not sure how anything liquid would properly remove embedded contaminents....Seems like trying to cut grass with a butter knife.

EDIT: After looking at the page it seems more like a cleaner (AIO Style) than a claybar in it's traditional sense....It's trying to replicate the results of a claybar...

Maybe a polish and paint cleanser with superfine kaophilite clay particles in it

Guy from diamondite told me that you can buy those clay particles

He told me that after I told him that I wanted to add kaolin clay to a car shampoo so to clay as I wash. That's what he used to make up speed clay, which I like very much

When i used SRP as a base it used to be very good at removing the little black dots that appeared on the paintwork etc. probably due to its very mild chalk abrassive. Maybe this Turtle wax product does as mention replace the abbrasive with a clay.

I know PPCL has the Kaolin Clay in but its really isnt as effective as SRP at removing those spots.

Of course now i know better and used clay first anyway. It seemed fun before you knew alot about it. Watching products do there work and trying to figure out what was going on.

I think this Turtle Wax Liquid Clay will now confuse things for alot of new people!!

I can just imagine "i head claying marrs your paintwork so i got the liquid clay".

HMM!!

I guess you cant knock it til you try it though.

I don't know about Turtle Wax products in general. I used Ice polish before and it gave a pretty good shine, but took forever to wipe off (It was sooooo greasy).

I don't know how a liquid could replicate an abrasive clay bar.

I've seen Glare's Liqui-Clay in action on a demo CD ... Massaged over the paintwork very carefully with a microfibre pad. In it they actually show (highlight) some microscopic scratches in the paint (after application) ... which their polishes will remove (hide) !

As a result, I'm sticking with the more conventional clay bar & the fall-out washes.

I think TW marketing this product as removing swirl marks as well, will only add to the confuson (general public) of what clay is actually used for.

Wow, removes scratches, swirls, oxidation, and cleans the kitchen floor all in one, and with no abrasives! Better throw out everything else we have and just pick some of this up!

This will just add more confusion to what a clay bar actually does.

Couldnt agree more, how many times have people asked you what clay is. after your ten minute explanation they may believe you or may still be skeptic or still unclear. then that person goes to wal mart and spots liquid clay on the shelves, hell its only six bucks(or whatever it is i didn't look) i'll do it myself. then they take it home, hey this stuff doesnt look or feel like play doh. far too much confusion, i guess they did that before in our line of work with polish.

I'm hoping someone who is not biased against Turtle Wax products trys this product and provides a review here.

I'm sure it's a similar product to Meguiar's DC 1 or MPPC.

I actually like those products..I've used it to clean bug guts off headlights and it can be nice to do a once over before a clay bar so you don't gunk it up too bad

The marketing of it, on the other hand, is shady at best. It's obviously marketed towards the general public that always hears about how you 'need to clay'.

Takes less time than clayinh??? Seriously, how long does it take to clay a car??? I can't take that much longer than wiping this stuff on and then back off.

The funny thing is that I agree with all of this. I dont see how this could work. But if it was made by Optimum, would we think the same way? I remember a lot of stuff and naysayers about ONR too.

Turtle Wax has been in busness for a very long time. They really make there products , not just mix them together in some garage. Ive talked to one of there chemist who is now retired, and he was a great guy that seemed to know what he was talking about. In the summer time you can see them in the factory parking lot testing products on employee cars. They are really concerned about what works and what doesent.

I use thier wheel and Tire Cleaner and swear buy it. It' cheap, readily available and does exactly what they say it will.

I'm not for making any comments on something till I have a base for those comments (good, bad or indifferent). That something could be in depth knowledge of the application, process, or it's components.

Turtle Wax as a company may be trying to update it's brand given all the interest being generated lately about Car Care.

I for one will give it shot, (as I'm not an elitest but a purist). If it works as advertised well good for me. If it doesn't, oh well I'll add it to my bin of other stuff that didn't work out.

Yeah like everyone here hasn't brought something that they didn't like or didn't measure up to their expectations ()
