TSX A-Spec / Accord / 635 CSi / 3 / RSX - Detailed

Here are a recent batch of details I have completed over the past couple of weeks. I have hand selected these ones.

First up, an Acura TSX.

I detail this car twice a year and the owner just wanted it cleaned and additional coat of Z. Just a Optimum No Rinse Wash, Z6 wipedown, then Z5 Pro. Z16 on the tires.

Next, an Accord Coupe belonging to the owner's mother. I detailed it last year and it was already a mess. Heavy swirling, some oxidation, and some R.I.D.S. She just wanted it cleaned up, nothing crazy. My finals were:

-Menzerna PO106FF via rotary and LC Finishing Pad @ 1200 rpm

-Zaino Z6 Wipedown

-Zaino Z5 Pro (ZFXd, Z8)

-Zaino Z16 on tires

-CD-2 Engine Detailer in wells

Next up, a 1985 BMW 635 CSi.

This car had among the worst defects I've seen/dealt with. The swirls were abundant, and deep, the surface had bad etching, oxidation, and R.I.D.S. To my dismay, the defects were under the clear (failing) and I had to just accept them. To my surprise, the owner and his brother were absolutely stunned. They couldn't stop commenting about how good it looked.

I guess that's what counts, right :). Plus, his new Ford GT (in garage) will need a detailer once he actually drives it :lol. My finals were:

-Dawn wash

-Zaino Z18 Clay with Dawn wash as lube

-Hi-Temp Extreme Cut via rotary and LC Cutting Pad @ 1500-2100 x 3

-Menzerna PO106FF/CK RMG (50/50) via PC @ 6 on a LC Polishing Pad

-Poorboy's Natty's Blue by hand

-Zaino Z16 x 2 on tires/trim

-Zaino ZPC for the exhaust with #0000 Steel Wool

-CD-2 Engine Detailer in wells

Next, a Mazda 3.

This car was in great shape. A 2005 model with about 17k on the clock, the owner is fanatic about weekly washing it. The car was Zaino'd (by owner) about 18 months ago. The surface now contained a lot of bonded contaminants and some swirl marks. My finals to correct:

-CG wash

-Zaino Z18 Clay with CG wash as lube

-Zaino Z-PC via PC @ 6 on a LC Orange Pad

-Zaino Z6 wipedown

-Zaino Z5 Pro (ZFX/Z8)

-Zaino Z16 x 2 on tires/trim

-Zaino ZPC for the exhaust with #0000 Steel Wool

-CD-2 Engine Detailer in wells

Last up, a RSX.

Same owner as above, this car is babied (no befores). I was able to concentrate on the very subtle details. I was very happy with the improvement of this finish. My finals were:

-CG wash

-Zaino Z18 Clay with CG wash as lube

-Zaino Z-PC via PC @ 6 on a LC White Pad

-Zaino Z6 wipedown

-Zaino Z5 Pro (ZFX/Z8) via PC @ 4 on a LC Black Pad

-Zaino Z16 x 2 on tires/trim

-Zaino ZPC for the exhaust with #0000 Steel Wool

-CD-2 Engine Detailer in wells

Questions, Comments, Advice, please feel free :).

As always your work is awesome. I hadn't thought of using CD-2 on the wheel wells, I'm gonna need to try that out sometime. Mine aren't looking to pretty anymore.

I remember you from team-integra, your work is always A+.

Let me address this PC question (I knew it was coming) :).

Never a hater, but then again, never a believer of a PC, I have always used a rotary. Having more and more vehicles with faint defects, a rotary almost seemed like using a butcher knife to cut butter. A kind member whom will go unnamed offered to let me borrow his PC. Since then, I have seen the light :).

With a rotary, there are certain times where you can form a faint buffer haze/trail from the slightest tilt. Rather than going over the same spot 2, 3, or even 4 times, why not take the guessing work out of it? Having done five cars with a PC now (to finish off light defects), I have seen why so many use it. I can work the PC with one hand and wipe down with the other. It's a great tool that is nearly fool-proof.

i know you would eventually ;)

I knew I wasn't crazy. I've mentioned this already but on 7 out of 10 vehicles I can finish with the rotory.

Unfortunately, on the other 3, it either taked me 2-3 multiple tries with the rotory to find what will finish flawlessly or grab the PC and some 106ff.

NICE!!

That BMW seemed like it would be one of those "unsatisfying to detail" type of cars, but it sure look nice afterwards!! I *hate* cleaning those wheels when they have been neglected.

Did you prime the pad with a little z6 while using the ZPC? I find that this drastically reduces the dust issue(it's not menzernaesque to start with, but....).

Top notch work as always. I hope to be living in your footsteps as far as detailing goes. Your skill is unbelievable.

All of them look great! The Mazda looks a mile deep, and the RSX looks really wet. Natty's Blue for the 635? That's the first time in a while where I've seen a detail where you used something other than Zaino. Once again, nice work.

Great job as always, :2thumbs:

I tried the HTEC/OP 50/50 the other day but instead of a rotary I used my PC set on 5.5speed. I had great results. You should give it a try and see how you like it.

Joe: No, but I will now :D. Thanks for the tip :).

Bigpoppa: I needed a nice carnauba paste to layer on. Natty's Blue fit the bill well.

roadmaster: Thanks for the tip, will do :).

Excellent work Arie!

I'm interested in hearing how the PC / LC white pad / ZP-C combo performs on various paints (especially black).

Do you plan to compound via rotary and finish up via PC, or are you experimenting?

John: After 5 cars, I'm just about at the point where I can buff successfully with one hand and use the other for applying beads of polish and wiping away residue. My times have only suffered a touch, but I think I can still improve those to the speed of the rotary.

I will be compounding an S2000 today and finishing up with the PC. I will see how it goes, and go from there.

As of now, I really like the combo of cutting it up via rotary and shining it up via PC :).
