Trying to get a friend off of Rejex, and over to Zaino.

Ok, I have a good friend that has a dark graphite 2004 Infiniti G35, I am going on a G35 meet/cruise with him near the end of this month, the day before I am going to strip his car and apply a couple coats of Zaino.

I would like to know what process and specific products I should use to get this car (heavy metallic) to look alive, deep, pop, and wet.

I want to know if I should focus more on Z5pro, or Z2pro. Should I use the Z8, or just use Z6?

I won't be doing any polishing, just clay, and applying the sealants.

Come on Zaino guys, what would make the metallic pop better than any of the other G35's of the same color?

Forgot to mention that he uses only Rejex on it, I have not read really good things about it (over Zaino).

In the thread Sean (g35stilez) has his G35 dressed up in z5pro x 3 then z2pro. If you are on a time crunch then I would recommend just doing 2-3 coats of z5pro because it will give you a bunch of depth and flake pop. The z2pro will add gloss if you are looking to go that route by IMHO doesn't supply the depth that z5pro provides.

If you are not going to do any polishing then a Dawn wash is really a must prior to the zaino system. If you can spare an extra 10 minutes and have klasse aio, use it instead of a dawn wash as it will safely remove the rejex sealant.

I MIGHT decide to do a claying, would that suffice?

I HIGHLY recommend claying the car even if it feels smooth because I guarantee it will feel smoother after the claying. Although you should clay, it will not remove the prior lsp (rejex). So basically polish the car to remove the sealant, or a dawn wash will do the same. I imagine that there would definitely be issues with the zaino system bonding to the rejex.

You're saying it will be a problem if I don't dawn wash?

I really don't have time to polish it.

clay and then use your favorite polish followed by an ISO wipedown or use ZPC. I'd reccomend Z5pro and top with Z8 on mettallics. If you want you can do a layer of Z2pro over the base coat of Z5pro. I'll bet he'll love it.

Well, like I said, I don't have time to polish it, so I will just wash, clay, dawn wash, ZFX'd Z5X2, Z2X1, Z8 wipedown.

Whats ISO?

I think it should look great, thanks for the tips everyone!

I would put a layer of AIO instead of claying. It's just as fast and I think it removes more dirt/old wax, than clay.

Just MHO though :)

If he is happy with Rejex, why try and make him switch? I know a few people who track their cars and swear by how the slickness makes their cars easier to clean.

Because I know what a Zaino'd one looks like, and I know that when he does his, it doesn't look as good.

Yeah, but would your friend notice the difference.Maybe 'his' car doesn't look as good in 'your' eyes, but in 'his' eyes it looks great already :nixweiss
