Truth In Detailing Forum - Anyone remember? :)

I remember there being an archive of the old Truth In Detailing forum on AutopiaForums prior to the merge with Autopia.org, but it appears to not have made the cut to the new Autopia? It sure is interesting to see how the whole detailing forum thing has evolved over the years. Who would have thought? ;) Regardless, how many members on Autopia use to be members on TID? Feel free to share some of you favorite memories of TID? Here's my favorite thing I took away from it:

Happy New Year, David !

Thanks for remembering this - I was there then and even farther back too..

Great days, Greater people !

I recall Bryan's streaming video at TID...from his garage and from an airplane. I miss his contributions.

Is the TID aspect related to Todd or did it occur before Todd?

The way I remember it was that Todd, who kind of pioneered the photo-heavy exotic car detail write-up, suddenly had bottles of CMA-only products propped up very prominently in his write-up pics. David B didn't take too kindly to that (that was during one of the "no one will use this forum for marketing purposes unless they are a sponsor" periods) and banned Todd, who it turns out was now working for CMA. So I guess Todd talked Jack (?) into starting their own forum, which was titled "Truth in Detailing" as a dig against David B, I guess. That's the way I remember it from where I sat.

I remember joining TID soon after I started getting into detailing after seeing some references to Blackfire. I usually hid in the background and read up on products and technique as I learned.

I remember when Jack shut the place down with the going out of business sale. I remember everyone saying how sad they were to see this happening and wished there was something they could do to help!!!

I then remember a lot of the same members posting shorthly after of not recieving their purchases in a timely manner and saying all kinds of derogatory remarks (that they ended up having to eat)

Other then that I have no memory of the place

Jack was a 100% decent, honest guy. He followed my motto of "say what you mean and mean what you say". He would never be a politician, too honest! I talked with him personally and complained that I just didn't know what to use anymore; the Zaino I bought was to tricky to apply on a consistant basis. He said, man, just box that stuff up and send to me, I'll send you some stuff you'll love. I did, and he sent me a ton of Blackfire products. He later asked me if I had used them and what I thought, I replied that I had and that they were exactly what I was looking for. Now, how many store owners do you know that would do a deal like that? It was a few months later that I became a moderator on autopia.org and even though 3D owned it, they never gave me any lip about my plugging of BFWD. So, I continued to use and enjoy it till it ran out, then I bought another bottle - a bigger one! However, when that ran out, the prices had gone up and I started hearing great stuff about Menz Power Lock, so I bought locally and found it to be a decent product and one that is more cost effective for me. But, I'd still recommend Blackfire products to anyone that ain't pinching pennies like me.
I never heard what happened to Jack after he got out of the biz, I hope he's doing well.
