Trim restoration

This 2002 Ranger recieved a full detail about a year ago. Customer's main concern was the mold/deterioration of the window sills. Truck had about 50,000 miles on it when it was done.

Another thing that was adressed was the horrible ferrous oxide from transport and paint overspray on many of the panels. The B&A pics of this issue were on disk #2, which I found out was corruped when I got home to view them.

Anyway, customer is a regular now and I see the truck about every 6 weeks. The trim still looks today like the first day it was done.

HUGE money maker and fairly easy.

Here goes:

In this picture you can see a closup of the sill's condition.

Surface was prepped with APC and Scotch brite or 320 grit sandpaper, i forget which but either works. Then hit with SEM Plastic Prep. Let the painting begin:

Used the same procedure/products for the wheel wells, they were toast beyond dressing help.

Make sure to mask.

Thanks Eric,

Caring for the trim IMO is actually easier now than when it was OEM. OEM trim was "porous" if you will. Tended to need attention and dressing more often.

Now, just simple washing keeps it like new.

Looks great. I'm assuming since it's a paint you could also use a regular paint sealant (AIO, SG, EX-P, etc) to help protect it as well now?
