Trim protectant

I have been using BF Trim and Tire protectant for black trim on the outside of my vehicle and some door trim. It lasts a while longer than some of the other products out there. I ran across this product, Lithium Trim/Restore/Protectant and it looks like it will last quite a while compared to BF and also resists some chemicals and water, whereas the BF doesn`t hold up to water. Aside from the cost as a downside, is there anything that compares to this Lithium?

Everyone is going to have a fav. I have always good luck with McKess 37. Lasts very long and never streaks in rain. When I traded my 6 year old Xterra in, the trim still looked great. The ZR2 gets the same.

Does it darken the trim you are coating? The vehicle I just finished was the Lincoln MKX that has lower body clading and a rear diffuser that doesn`t look like I treated it unless it darkens - which I prefer. My Macan has a diffuser just doesn`t look as good unless I use something that darkens.

Trim coatings seem to be the rage but I haven’t tried any yet. I do use Shine Supply clutch (sio2sealant) and haven’t been dissaponted yet and it’s been on 2 months. Did darken it up

Back in 2016 I used Wolfgang (WETS?) and Blackfire but switched to `coatings` in 2017. Have used a variety, Gyeon, IGL, Gtechniq, a paint coating on occasion.

Gtechniq seems to be my current favorite but Gyeon works well too. If doing one of my own cars for the long-term I`ll use a paint coating as it generally lasts as long as the coating does on the paint, 2 to 3 years, so that`s convenient. Otherwise the Gtech will suffice.

Does the paint coating darken the trim considerably? I have a MC40 that has wheel arch moldings that really make the car pop if the trim molding is darkened.

Probably darkens it as much as other trim coatings, maybe a touch more. Kamikaze ISM 1.0.

I haven`t used an ERV Dressing for anything but tires for years. On exterior trim, I use Utlima Tire & Trim Guard + when I don`t think it`s sufficient to merely wipe those pieces with a SprayWax as my Drying Aid. In some rare cases I`ll use the Klasse twins, with many coats of KSG.

With the UTTG+ (let alone the KSG), I don`t have to do anything but wash for months on end. I bet the Coatings would be even better, but the UTTG+ is utterly Accumulator-proof. I prep with Griot`s Rubber Prep (whether the trim is rubber or not).

I`m liking how theglossshop coating is looking on the plastics. Even as sheltered as the camaro is. The plastic would just look kinda dull after just a couple of weeks with 303 aerospace. Its been months now and still looks excellent. I`d have to vote for the ceramic coating as being the best option.

It does give somewhat of a darker effect once applied. Here is the product on my former Xterra.

But not as much as I am looking for. If I used that product on my Macan`s diffuser it wouldn`t show that I did anything to it.

Is it like this or is it lighter? https://youtu.be/Toto97MRHBg
