Trim " paint " , not flat black .. what is it ?

I am doing a makeover on my girls' Kia Spectra 2003 . Her windows and between the windows on the doors are blacked out with some type of rubbery paint like that I can not figure out what it is .

There are a lot of places that have been knicked and quite a few places from locking keys out of car I assume on driver's side is scraped off down to the paint .

It was like this when she bought it btw .

It is not a standard flat black paint per say and it's not like a coating like on wiper arms , can anyone help me figure out what in the world it is and how to feather repair this flexible rubbery " paint " in to make it look original'ish ?

Car is going thru an extreme makover over the next month or so , and that is the only thing I can not do because I don't know how to go about it or what product to use .

Anyone who can help this would be MUCH appreciated

If it's like my friend's Hyundai, that's not paint, but a self-adhesive flat black applique. Hers has wrinkled up in one area, some day she's going to stop by the dealer and see if they will replace it and what that would entail.
 
I just talked to Kia after being on hold for 3 hours ( on speakerphone while on PC lol )

Setec is right , they said it is a black vinyl applique . I'm getting a call back in 20 minutes or so to tell me if it is self - applicable , or can be covered under warranty maintenance and dealer will install it .

Well the coating is in sections .

For instance - top of driver's front window - 1 section

- rear of front door pillar - 1 section



etc etc ..



Each section is $14 and odd change each ...



Phew .. OEM part prices are wild ..
 
So is this something that you can do yourself? Body Shop? How much for body shop install? How much disassembly (does it wrap around behind?)?
 
It is something you can yourself . He said it is simply the trim pieces that either snap off if unscrew then it wrap around and under .

One of the pieces , I believe the rear windows have two pieces that kind of mold together instead of one long continuous piece , the other are 1 piece .

$14 isn't a lot unless you consider the pieces are barely 1 or 1.5" wide x 12 " long at the most
 
Well it occured from people getting into the car with coat hangers .

The car now has a remote start etc door opening Viper alarm and I also have a slim jim type kit so once it's fixed I doubt it will ever happen again as long as we have the car .
