Tried something new today

GOT PREP?
My paint must be the most easily marred paint in the world. If you look at it wrong it will mar. Years ago I had all but given up QD'ing my car unless it was absolutely clean and a CCD is just a disaster even with meticulous technique. S&W allows me to handle light dust and has really cut down on my weekly washings, but I can't S&W anything other than light dust without marring.

So today I decided to try something a little different. My car was washed yesterday, but had been driven about 130 miles and stayed outside all night under huge trees. I really could not see S&W'ing it and a wash wasn't going to happen(long night out :-p )

So I used a variation in technique. I used 1 gallon of water with two cap fulls of QEW, a MF mitt, and one WWMF.

Sprayed S&W onto car
used damp MF mitt with no pressure to pick up dirt
dried with WWMF
rinsed mitt in bucket and proceed to next panel

It worked beatifully! The products really work well together. It is faster than QEW alone(for me anyway) and no marring.

Just thought some of you with paint like mine may want to try it.

wait EBP, u used S&W or QEW? In theory the right lubricating soap can do the properties of QEW i've heard, but QEW is exceptional at doing it. Might try QEW or some S&W form of it

I used S&W and QEW together. IMO QEW is unique in its' abilities. I used it here as more of an aid to S&W. I could have used just plain water in the bucket and it probably would have worked fine, but I figured why not use a couple of cap fulls of QEW. I also feel that it helps rinse the debris from the mitt and allows the "junk" to settle in the bottom.

Interesting.
My QEW hasn't gotten much use since I became comfortable with S&W. Sounds like maybe I should try the two together when the vehicle is dirty enough that I don't really feel comfortable with just the S&W. When the dirt is that bad, I usually just bucket wash, but the QEW/S&W combo may get a try.

Yes, I also noticed that S&W works well as a "pre-soak" for QEW. I still prefer to do a traditional wash when the vehicle is too dirty for S&W alone. However, the S&W/QEW combo will be perfect for washing in the garage during winter or drought seasons.
