Tried Plexus Today,...Very Nice!

My Dad's worn old Taurus wagon has really started to smell BAD inside, so I offered to help clean it out.

Autopians would be ill to see this car. I used Spray Nine-water mixture to get the stains off the carpet, doors, dash...removed the mats and really went to town on those too. (Spray Nine is a great fabric carpet cleaner...and was recommended to me from a upholstery shop)

This car has had no appearance attention for probably two years. And...he eats in the car...need I say more?

Anyhow, this crusted dash gave the opportunity to try my newly purchased Plexus.

I sprayed the product onto the instrument glass, and then gently wiped with a 3M MF. Wow. No haze, no scratches (well, no new ones) and it is so clear!

Plexus is the first product in a long time that exceeded my expectations.

What does Plexus DO exactly? Is it just a "safe" way to clean plastics, or does it actually have some scratch/swirl removal or filling ability? How is it used?

Thanks!

Plexus is a resident in my detailing arsenal. No, I have not found it to remove scratches or swirls. But on well-maintained and well-cleaned plastic, it has a "zing" factor that no other product I've tried can equal.

I use PlastX on seriously neglected/oxidized plastic. Here's what it did on the old '70 VW Ghia.

In my limited experience, Plexus works best on plastic gauges etc. that are already in good condition. PlastX removes oxidation for me. But I haven't found that either of them is very effective in removing scratches.

It seems to me that Plexus, in my very limited experience, is best for cleaning...not removing defects. I liked the fact that it easily cleaned without scratching or leaving dust from it's drying.

I have not used PlastX, but do have the other two Meguiar's plastic cleaners-polishes that have been very good for taillights and such.

The thing about PlastX is that it has diminishing abrasives, so you really do have to work it quite a long time if you want it to deal with scratches. I saw Mike Phillips do an amazing job on a badly-scuffed piece of Plexi; it did take about 5 minutes (if I'm recalling correctly) to de-scratchify a 4" section.

Luckily, I didn't have scratches on those lenses -- just oxidation.

Agreed that Plexus is for maintaining plastic that is already in good shape. I use it every time on my headlights, taillights, and other plastic. It seems to make it almost disappear and super clear. It will help keep that nasty yellow from happening :)

Lynn,Yes my local indipendent auto store has recently started to stock a limited range of Meguires,I bought about $130 worth last Month, mainly NXT stuff.
