Today I tested out the OCC, OCP and OCW on my loaner 05 X3. My cars in for service and this is the loaner they gave me, it only has 9900 miles but about 70000 miles worth of nasty swirls. I took the day off to work on my cars so I figured why not try out a new product on someone elses car? Here is the before shot:

I washed the 1/4 panel and did OCC with light cut pad by PC at 5-6 x2 and OCP with polishing pad by PC at 5 x1 and OCW. There were some nasty swirls that need a rotary to remove, but I think the transformation is still pretty drastic. I love this stuff! I think its going to become my go to polsih from now on!

Excellent!

I wonder however how soft the paint was - Normally BMW paint is pretty hard - even with a rotary it takes me lots of work.

Welcome to the club.

How many passes on each product by the PC.

I always use rotary or cyclo.

Good job. :up

I made 2 "passes" with OCC at speed 6 with a light cut pad and 1 pass wit OCP at speed 5 with a polishing pad. You can still see in the 2nd pic that some of the deep swirls remain, but Id say it got at least 90% out. And the OCW really made the metallic pop.

I was just out working on my COntour and was trying hte OCC by rotary. Im having a little bit of problem with pad skip and the product gumming up on the paint? Im only using a "X" on the pad for a 2x3 section? Im wondering if maybe I didnt clean that pad well enough and there was something else left on it?

Thats very impressive i'm probably going to be ordering OCC soon. For the performance/value I think the whole Optimum line is VERY hard to beat.

WOW, FANTASTIC shots!! it looks great.

I've been using the Optimum spray wax for a few months now. I am going to label it my best new product of 2005. I am on the verge of ordering a gallon of the stuff and sharing it with a few friends - - the stuff is that GOOD!

I spritzed it on my daily driver a few weeks ago. The car is absolutely filthy (4 consecutive weekends of rain) and the sucker is still beading like crazy...it's like no other product I've come across and the result on darker colors is T- Riffic!!

I am prepared to offer :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs

Enjoy!

I'd say that you are using way too much product.

TDekany, I tried another pad and it worked much better. There must hve residue left on that pad. I used a very thin x per panel, not a thick "x". I agree that Optimum is an excdellent value, I bought the kit with 32oz of OCC and OCP, OCW 2-MF's and a 6" light cut pad for $50. Seems like you could almost get by on this kit, a PC a few extra pads and MF's, soap, clay and dressing and call it good.

I just did that panel. Bad thing is that I noticed a dent on the same side (passenger) last night that I dont think was there when I got the loaner, at least it didnt break the paint so it could be repaired by paintless dent repair. So Im going to try and park it in a way that they wont check it out when I drop it off. As far as the one panel looking different, I doubt the "detailing" dept would even notice, it looks to me like they use brushes to wash thier cars judging by the swirls.

"WOW" is right!

Man that is impressive to say the least :2thumbs: You should contact Dave at Optimum and ask him to put that up on his website, he would love to I am sure.

As for the pad skipping, what were the rpm's, what pad make and were you holding it flat or at an angle?

Great work!!

tdekany- By different pad I meant a "new" pad. It was a foam cutting compared to the light cut pad I tried the first time. I dont have a lot of foam pads for my rotary.

Anthony- Thanks for the compliment! It means alot coming from a pro such as yourself. Do you have an email address for Dave at optimum?j
