Toyota Paint

I have come from a world of Hard Paints, VW, Audi and GM. My wifes new '08 Yaris is something else. It has 100 miles on it and is swirl city.

I did a test with Menz FPII and a LC white pad @ 6 on the PC and after working the polish twice (polish, work, breakdown X 2) the area was flawless and I mean flawless. I have never achieved this level of work on my black Jetta. I was amazed, then angry. It takes me multiple weekends in the spring working section by section, with 4" pads to correct my car with harsher abrasives, multiple steps.

My worry is now is the paint will mar easily (I didn't leave any marring with my MF's so it isn't too sensitive) but nevertheless I worry about longevity. Should I be easy on this paint? Polish it less often? (I usually only polish once a year, area touch ups when needed)

Is it just because it is an economy car? My Jetta is the peoples car economy sedan but doesn't have cheap paint. what gives? This is my first Japanese car, I usually stick to Germans.

Any advice on care, polishing frequency and how long this paint will live? Seems like it will chip like crazy too.

japanese cars have soft paint.it is not matter of economy car.My 2005 Accord has event softer than that.it can be marring by waxing or washing or sneezing :)

I have an 08 Corolla and I must say the paint is neither hard nor soft, it's somewhere in the middle. I've never worked on a Yaris before but if you don't want it to scratch or marr, carefully wash it using the proper method and I assure you it will stay flawless for a good while before you need to remove swirls again.
