Toyota Leather & Leatherique

My 2010 camry with the charcoal perforated leather is starting to turn petrified from the sun. Usually every 6 months - a year I use leather products like Zaino Z9/Z10 and Zymol leather cleaner/conditioner but my leather is rock hard in the areas directly hit by sunlight. I noticed that even applying Zaino or Zymol the leather doesn't seem to absorb the conditioner it kind of just sits on top and creates a film. Other leather I've tried those products in like in the Lexus IS or Acura TL the leather seems to absorb the product and make it feel softer but my seats don't. Is there something with the toyota leather where its treated to prevent liquids from being absorbed?

I bought the leatherique kit to try out after reading all the positive things people say and its finally hot enough to use so I'm wondering if this would help or if its too late.

I haven't tried it myself, but I have heard all good things about Leatherique. I tinted my windows with ceramic tint and even spend $60 on a sun shield for the dash to limit the amount of sun/heat into the car.

Now virtually 95% of leather in domestic (American) and Imported (Asian) vehicles use finished (urethane coated) upholstery

Pigmented leather won't absorb liquids because of the protective properties of the finish making for easier clean-up. Since the leather hide has a pigmented urethane layer and clear topcoat finish, when treating the leather, so you are in fact dealing with a urethane (to all intents and purposes, a ~150 µ (micron) thick plastic surface coating, about the same thickness as automobile clear coat paint; that simply needs to be kept clean and hydrated…it really is that simple.

A simple concept that been stated a million times and still some will swear that treating finished leather with a conditioner is beneficial. But if you feel 50USD plus and approx 2-3 hours work is a worthwhile investment of time / money to treat a urethane covering, that’s your choice

Are you talking about the perforated panels that is turning stiff?

Do you have pictures?

We can go from there the detail instruction on how best to soften it.
