At the risk of being called anti Toyota or anti import, I thought this might be of some interest.

Unintended Acceleration Problems Persist Despite Toyota Recall Repairs

Here's one paragraph from the linked article.
VOA News said:
The U.S. Transportation Department is looking into complaints from some Toyota owners who say they are still experiencing problems with unintended acceleration even after repairs to their recalled vehicles. The complaints raise concerns that safety issues that led to the recall of more than eight million vehicles may not be mechanical in nature, as Toyota engineers claim.

I read this also but did not post thought I would let someone else get the Toyota hater label.

I feel like a prophet I posted a couple weeks ago that the pedal was NOT going to cure all their problems.

I also saw on the news their is a million dollars for anyone who can come up with a cure.
 
I had read on another board where there lots of folks unhappy with the way their pedals felt after the recall "fix." I think it will be bad for them (and the NHTSA folks who approved the "fix") if this turns out to not work at all.
 
Between all this and the pics I just saw recently of a Tundra whose seats were annihilated in a rear-end crash, I'm starting to really wonder what Toyota is thinking with the way they're building their vehicles.

I saw those a week or so ago on Tundra Solutions - all I can say about that is unbelievable. In a rear end collision, I could see that breaking your back if the seats were to do that. Wow...

I have not been at any Toyota web sites but I"m thinking Toyota probably made a stiff pedal they wanted to make sure it returns.
The news media said that NHTSA had signed off on it but that was not correct.

At the hearing Toyoda stated that NHTSA had nothing in the fix it was Toyota's idea so if it don't work it is ALL theirs.

Since it has nothing to do with safety Toyota say's it is not a recall but all owner of the V6 will get a recall letter because of a oil line that has been failing and when it pumps the engine dry catastrophic results occur.

Like I have said repeatedly ALL manufactures have problems but it sure looks like Toyota has really did a back slide in recent years.
Brakes on the hybrids and steering on the Corolla's think back 10 years ago it was not like this.

The Japanese government has been on Toyota because their Hino trucks are breaking axles a wheel killed a pedestrian when one broke off. The hit's just keep coming.
 
The reports I heard on TS were that the pedal felt a lot looser now. Like it was hard to keep it engaged when you went over a spped bump, etc. On the way down your foot would push it and it would bark the tires. That was an explanation from one guy.

While I'm no fan of lawyers in a case like this it is the only way for people to recover their loses.
Can you imagine how these company's would be if it was not for the class action suits hanging over their head.
I don't feel sorry for Toyota they made their bed now let them sleep in it.

Tort reform, if enacted like some want, would limit damages received especially punitive damages. This is a fundamental goal of some regarding health care.

YES WE NEED LIMITS too restore sanity to our legal system but I'm not for giving corporations a pass on suits altogether that would be a huge mistake.
Look at Toyota's attitude and try to imagine what it would be like if they were totally free from liability.

Very true! The minute you release large corporations from being liable for their behavior, we'll have the same kind of problems we had back in the early days of the industrial revolution before unions came about (back when unions were actually necessary entities with fairly reasonable expectations).
