Toyota Avalon topped with new Reflections Wax

Friends,

I had some great luck cleaning up a really scratched Toyota Avalon. Process was:

1. Zaino Z-7

2. Clayed entire car with ClayMagic & Lube (this step made a huge difference)

3. Wash with P21S soap.

4. Poorboys SSR2.5 with PC on 4 then 6.

5. Remove scratches on back trunk lid with Makita rotary on 1 then 2.

6. Mother's Reflections car wax with Cobra applicator. Buffed with Wayne's towels.

Wheels: Eagle One A2Z followed by ArmorAll Detailers Advantage foam (to save time)

It's very hard to capture metallic gold with the lower rez camera I have but here are the results.

Here's the hood

Looks nice! :xyxthumbs

Despite the overcast, you can still see the wet look you achieved.

Glad to see you're working hard on the rotary :up I remember the other week how frustrated you were. Practice is making perfect :p

Is that a dent in the rear passenger door?! :soscared:

Good job Lee :bigups

Thanks Spilchy. :)

Yep, there were several dents over the car but probably PDR would do the trick. I advised my neighbor about that when I did the car. I wish the sun was brighter, the car was just glistening when I finished up.

Also, Nikon has announced the D70S with a 2" LCD screen. I think I will save up for that soon.

Thanks!

Yes, we used a Makita 9227 - superb machine.

The ArmorAll actually looks very good. I only use it when I run out of time. I did this one for free for my next door neighbor.

I also used the Sonus SFX polishing system on the trunk lid and found #3 and #2 polishes and the corresponding pads to work wonderfully. These combined with SSR are a dynamite match.

Thanks guys. I'm really starting to see the benefits of perfect surface prep. It's what really makes the wet look in addition to applying thin even layers of wax or sealent.

I'm surprised that there are some people that like Armor All. All my experiences are that they sligned off and can't keep the shine after a drive. I like the above average shine for tires but it usually goes from good to below average after one drive.

You did a beautiful job Lee, you can really see the shine on the paint. You'll be a master with the rotary in no time. Thanks for the info on the Sonus polishes and pads.

My experience is that, while not nearly as good as the boutique brands (Pinnacle, Wolfgang, Z-16, otc Mothers FX Tire Shine), the Detailers Advantage foam does not sling or wear off after one drive. I can dull a bit in a bad rainstorm but can easily last a week.

nice job Lee!

yeah, surface prep is the key. i love poorboy's SSR and the look it gives to the paint, kinda wet looking. :xyxthumbs

the toyota metallic gold is really nice. i did a friend's gold corolla a couple weeks ago (AIO topped w/#16) and when i pulled the car out of garage, wherever the sun was hitting the paint, wow, poppin' flakes! :woot:

but do you have the bottle of Reflections on the paint? :nono :D

Thanks guys. It took a lot of polishing but it was worth it....Something about AIO really gets the flakes popping on metallic cars.
