Toxic Bird Crap?!?

Well I now have a new 7336 and placed my order with Dwayne this morning for all the pads, Poorboy's products and a microfiber WW I will need for my first real detail. I can't freakin wait and i'm hoping I get some good weather soon. The only problem area of my truck (besides the thousands of swirls and paint chips on the front) that I don't know how to deal with is this spot that I believe was caused by bird droppings. I have always carried QD with me in the truck and normally clean it off quick, but I'm not sure what the case was here. My last poor attempt at a detail didn't yield no results with the 3M SMR used by hand. I'm guessing wet sanding might be the answer, but I'm not even sure that will help. It appears to be pretty deep. It's on the hood of my 2002 Chevy P/U. Pretty noticable spot too.

Here's some pics:

What would you guys do? I have all the Edge 2000 pads on the way along with SSR2.5 and SSR1. I can always buy more if I need to also.
Any input is greatly appreciated! :bow

Depending on exactly where it is located on the hood, a vinyl graphic may be your solution.:)
Seriously, that looks like a bad one. Some polishing may make it less obvious, but it really looks like the clearcoat is damaged beyond restoration. A good body shop can blend the base coat in the damaged area, but they will most likely need to reclear the entire hood.
My vinyl graphic suggestion is not entirely in jest. You might find something that could be made to look like it belongs there.

I can feel your pain. I once had an entire 1/4 panel repainted because of a chip 1/2 the size of my little finger nail. The painter just shook his head when I told him I wanted to go ahead and do it even after he quoted the price.
Sick, isn't it? :D

You might be surprised at what SSR 2.5 can do. Crank your PC up to 6 with the yellow pad and a little pressure. It might take 2-3 passes. :bigups

Unfortunately my friend, I have to concur with Charles. I have a similar one from before my professional detailing days on my daily driver that looks just like that. Wetsanding is a big risk, and even then, you might not yield perfection. I wouldn't suggest wetsanding unless you have a rotary either, then step down to the PC. Congrats on your purchase, and this just might be a defect to live with :angry

I would be careful about hitting one area with polish too hard. To get that spot out is going to require the removal of a lot of clear coat. Wetsanding is how you will want to do that. If you hit that area with enough polish to remove it then you will also be removing several square inches of clear coat that doesn't need to be touched. That is some damage that may be unrepairable without an airbrush and some good painting skills.
