Tough Decisions????

Being somewhat new to this detailing lark, I'm finding it somewhat hard to make the right choices for my car.

I struggling on what wax/sealant to go with.

It's come down to Blitz/P21S or Zaino

I like the idea and durability of Zaino as it should see me through the winters over here without worring that the car isn't being protected.

I won't beable to wax every few weeks to maintane the protection when it's freezing outside.

The car is a daily driver so it is going to have a hard time.

How long can I expect something like Blitz to last on a daliy driver that is outside 24/7 as against Zaino?

But I don't want it to look too false and sterile as I feel Zaino might and It seems to suit lighter colours.

I think my car is classed as dark being Red.

I have also read that Z5 isn't very good at covering swirls where as something like IMG would do a much better job due to the fillers, but I would have to use a wax with such a product as Zaino won't bond over IMG.

I want to make the right choice as something like Zaino or P21S

I will have to import which will make it even more expensive.

So i want to try and get it right in the first place.

I've seach the forum and this is how I have come down to these choices.

So any advice you can offer me on which you feel is better for my application is welcome:D

If you choose the Blitz or P21S route, expect to rewax your car every 1-2 months minimum. Blitz will win the durability contest in the carnuba wax department.

Zaino will get you through the winters just fine. Z5 will fill in minor marring and swirls in stages or coats. Anything that it won't fill in should be removed first as part of prep with an abrasive swirl mark remover. IHG may fill swirls better upon application, but has no durability and the swirls will reappear after a few washes. I would choose whichever regiment suits your needs best.

As for red, I think Zaino looks the best on red. check out some of these pics!!!

DK is right, remove the swirls first and then you don't have to worry about filling them later. Zaino is the king of durability, and looks great on red.

For a car that is not garaged and driven daily in a climate that rains often, I wouldn't even consider using a carnauba. I use Blitz/P21S on one of my cars, but I only use it because I live in a city that almost never rains, rarely gets too hot and never snows. Plus, it's garaged whenever not driven. In your situation however, whatever perceived superiority in shine you might (and I do emphasize the word "might") enjoy from using Blitz/P21S just would not be worth the extra amount of work...IMO.

It seems like a Carnuba waxes lack of longevity as against Zaino is going to be it's down fall for my application.

I guess in would be ok in the warmer weather, but as it starts to turn colder I will switch to Zaino.

Did you consider Klasse with a topper of Blitz/P21S? You can also top Zaino with carnuba, but there ends your layering.

Beat me to it. Why not get your 3-5 coats of Zaino on and top it off with the P21s. It bet it'll look fantastic!

Laynlow......great pics, what a shine:up .

I would use 3M perfect it SMR for dark color cars first (#39009). You can use it by hand but will get quicker results by PC. If that doesn't cut the swirls, try out 3M finesse it II.....which is a little more aggressive. Follow up with a few coats of Z5 and put on your sunglasses.......
