Touch-free Carwash question

Hey guys,

I detailed my car past winter, and it's getting a bit dirty now. It's really cold outside so I can't wash the car myself. I was wondering if taking it to one of those touch-less car washes where there is absolutely no contact?

Also, if I should go ahead with this then I don't know how to do the drying process. So I ask you, how should I dry the car after I get the car washed this way?

Thanks.

Don't dry it...those things can't get the car completely clean..find one that you drive into, it does its deal and dryers come on...if not, drive fast..

If you are ok with swirls, go ahead and dry it with whatever you want, MF, Cali blade..etc

aslong as nothing touches you are golden it is not as good as a ONr wash but it is better than nothing

LOL I usually just go on the highway at like 80mph and have the water blow off the car :-)

DieselMDX: What is "ONr wash"?

But, by drying via driving really fast, wouldn't that create water spots from the dirt in the air hitting the car while its wet?

onr is Optimum No Rinse And Shine is a product that you do not need to rinse the product off. You get a bucket full it with 2 gallons and one ounce onr and wash the car with it. then all you have to do is dry the car. No need to take the hose out and waste time.

Yes that could happen but i have to be honest without actually drying the car this is the best easist way. not the best way but better than letting the water sit on the car.

I've never seen a touchless car wash without a high volume blower at the end of it to dry the car.

Agreed. When I see people actually "dry" there car on the highway, i actually give a little chuckle. All your really doing is allowing the fallout and brake linings on the road, an opportunity to adhere to your paint......

Take it home and dry it with a Ww, and some QD.......Bono, Im sending you a PM.

I also have the same question - after going to a carwash - (DIY ones) - I normally just drive off hoping that it will do the trick. However, when I get the car home it looks dusty. I definitely don't want to introduce more swirls but is there any other way? I see that Autopia is offering a winter detail kit with sonus detailer. Would that help you dry the car without marring your paint?

Thanks!

In my experience with touchless washes, the car is never completely clean and ALWAYS never completely dried, even at the newer high-tech, high-pressure touchless washes. It's better than nothing though.

But, if the cold weather is preventing you from giving your car a normal wash, then I suggest ONR because not only will it be cheaper (per wash) than going to a touchless carwash, but your car will actually come out cleaner and be completely dry (assuming you washed and dried it correctly). It just requires your time and a little work on your part which I'm sure you won't mind doing, otherwise you wouldn't be on this site.

SBK said it right, though it looks clean it has a film over the paint, and on my really red car I can see it..so if u use it to knock off as much as you can, cool...if you want it CLEAN, ONR...
