Tornador For Waterless Wash

Has anyone here ever done it? I wouldn't be going too close to the paint but I was thinking about Gary Dean's air injection set up and was thinking this would probably be more effective if it was safe to do.

I have a specific area on the '93 Audi where I plan to try that, but I haven't done it yet.

BUT, that's a specific-to-that-car issue and probably not relevant to any other vehicle.

So far, my use of the Tornador Black leads me to believe that it's not really suited to this use overall. It just doesn't spray enough product nor at a high enough pressure (I'm running mine at 90 psi), at least not unless you keep it *very* close to the surface being cleaned. (Note that I'm used to keeping my foamgun's nozzle *VERY* close to the paint.) And it cleans a very small area; doing a whole panel would probably be quite problematic. The spray pattern might make it hard to keep previously-cleaned sections from getting resoiled.

I know guys use the Tornador to clean wheels/etc., but I dunno...

And remember that it atomizes any cleaner, so you'd probably want a respirator lest you breath in a lot of your rinseless. Note that I'm generally not too paranoid about this, but having used the Tornador with some shampoo mix, well...it's a valid concern IMO.

I *do* really like it for rinsing out jambs/etc. with plain water though, it's great for that.

Who knows, maybe I'll try it with the IUDJ and post back that I was completely wrong and it works great. But I kinda doubt it ;)

I really appreciate that explanation, I've never been able to use one and wasn't sure how much of that 90psi actually came out of the gun.

Gary Dean has done something somewhat similar with his "Air Injection System" - I believe he uses pressure of about 125psi coming from the compressor.

Gotta admit I've never sat through (all of) a Garry Dean video, just not, uhm...how I'm gonna spend that many minutes. Eh, maybe I'm missing something but that's how I always feel about it :o

Hmm..my compressor could maintain that ~125psi OK..

Same here! It's sooooo hard to sit and *listen* when I want to see the action shots!! I find myself fast forwarding alot, til I get to the good stuff.

I'm not his biggest fan, I'm sure he is a good guy and all, just one of the few videos I saw was about this. I can't watch very much of his stuff because of how he pushes his products so hard but they aren't competitively priced.

Heh heh, I *like* Garry, and I'll go on-record as saying that he's a 100% stand-up guy to do business with, but I can't bring myself to watch his videos either.
