Torched paint

Literally!

My dad was trying to remove an emblem with a heat gun and that wasn't working so he busted at a mapp gas torch, lol. Don't ask me why, I wasn't their. Anyways he got to close to the paint and "torched" it. It didn't bubble, but you can see a rainbow effect. Is this possible to remove with compound/polish?

Mother of God.

I wish I could help. I was just so blown away. I just sat here and stared at the computer for a min. Ive de-badged a few of my cars and it was nothing a hair drier and fishing line couldn't handle.

Yeah, like I said, don't ask my why, lol...

He's a mechanical contractor (heating/AC.. Plumbing) they use Mapp Torches for everything....

Had a dull moment and wasn't thinking. He said he had it at a reasonable distance away.

MAACO is a horrible franchise paint company. I'm pretty sure he was joking. LOL

Just try and polish it out and see how it goes. It's not like you'll damage it more.

It's in a really tight spot and I have never polished paint by hand. I have M105/M205, what is the best method to polish by hand.

Thanks.

Terry cloth towels are more aggressive than microfiber, use those like you would different foam pads on a buffer. Other than that it's just rub the compound on/off, no real magic to it.

Don't expect too much if anything, paint burns are there to stay. The only exception may be if he torched only the clear and not the paint, so now you should be able to remove enough of the clear to solve the problem, but to say that is all unlikely is a bit of an understatement.
