Topping Opti Seal With OCW?

I know many have tried this. i am really thinking of using OOS as my go to this year. In terms of topping it with OCW, is there a required cure time?

I know Scottwax does this, so perhaps he can offer some best practices.

Thanks,

Brett

I wouldn't sweat topping OOS, at least until the next wash. It looks great on its own.

And it looks better after it fully cures. We detailed an Escalade on Monday, went back on Wednesday to detail their SL600, and it amazed me how much deeper Opti-Seal looked after 48 hours. I don't notice it as much when I use it on my own vehicles because I see them all the time. But when you don't see a vehicle for a couple days, then you can see it.

Is there any point in using Opti-Seal at all if I use OCW every 3-4 weeks anyway?

Only if you want a different look. OCW looks like a wax. OOS looks like a very glassy clear coat.

Think I made a mistake here, 12-24h is recommended between multiple coats of OOS. You can layer OCW over OOS pretty much right after. 30min would be more than sufficient.

Best method for me is to use Opti-Seal, then next time I do an ONR wash, I add in an ounce of OCW as well.

Apart from saving 5 mins, what's the benefit of adding OCW (into the wash solution I assume) rather than applying it onto the paint after washing?

Other than the time savings? None that I can think of. But 5 minutes a week over the course of a year is 4 hours of extra time.

I can't imagine how awesome Opti-Seal would looked topped with OCW if OCW is as good as everyone says it is.

I applied Opti-Seal to my Formula in December. It sits out of the weather in an enclosed garage all the time, but the Opti-Seal still looks awesome.

I topped a few panels with Zaino Z8 as a test, and the results were amazing. I know some people have said OCW leaves a deeper and wetter shine than Z8. I can't imagine how awesome that combo would look if so,but I plan to try it sometime for sure!

Can you layer OOS and OCW back and forth ?

I just bought a ton of OPT products and want to start learning the little curves and use this as my go to products.

Yes, you can use one, then next time use the other. They play well together.

I have a black graphite metallic car. I love the way OCW looks on the paint. It looks just like my carnuba waxes.

I'm guessing the sealant is a better choice for silver and white so I guess I'll stick with OCW for now. I do have some of Adam's sealant left that I have used in the past if I want a little variety.
