Top Ten Pet Peeves...

Clean Dean

Keep it clean !!!
Detailing Pet Peeves !!! Here is mine, what are yours.

1. Grimey greasy filthy door jams.
2. Gum in carpet/leather/upholstery.
3. Road paint overspray !!! I have had nightmares !!!
4. Baked on brake dust over 10 years !!!
5. Borderline correctible scratches in paint near trim and edges.
6. 10 years + of oxidation and wash scratches and swirls.
7. Filthy fenderwells which are complimented with a dirty but high gloss dressed tire.
8. Coke, Fruit Punch, and various other beverages left on light carpeting/upholstery/leather for more than a year !!!
9. Food crumbs, cigerette ash, and other small debris inside the small crevices of the center console !!! YUK!!!
10. Bad, Bad, Bad paintwork that you must attempt to correct. Challenging, time consuming, and dangerous, even with a PTG !!!

Happy New Years to all DC !!!

1. People that cause 90% of the things on Dean's list (it's not always a good thing to make the Dean's list ;) )

2. Birds with perfect aim

3. Sticky, gooey messes in dash & console crevices

4. That heavy 'mystery' build up on interior glass that's like armor

5. Heavily sloped windshields and rear windows

6. Water hiding trim & other pieces

7. Tires that "two-tone" after cleaning or refuse to turn any color but brown no matter how much you clean them

8. ANY type of grease where it's not supposed to be

9. People who rub their dirty hands over a freshly detailed car and say "Ooh smooth."

10. Tight corners on window glass and the Devil streaks that just won't go away (and of course can only be seen while you're driving)

My top 10: Although I could make the list 20 or more.

1: Boogers under seats (gross!)
2: The 95% of customers who say their car is in great shape (no it's not dude, that's why you called me)
3: Short dog hair (far worse than long hair)
4: 6 year old black cars that have never been detailed.
5: Unidentifiable syrups or sticky goo's in center consoles.
6: Tahoe/Burban front door side pockets (very hard to clean)
7: Overspray (can you say tennis elbow?)
8: cleaning rear windows
9: Scratches around the key holes (come on! these are the easiest scratches to avoid, just put the key in the hole people)
10: Road Paint (I have nightmares too)

You guys have covered most of my top ten complaints but I would add a few.

1) Wheels that have so much brake dust that getting them perfectly clean is almost impossible, without having to use a strong acid based cleaner, which I won't use.
2) Pick up trucks with the caps that make it impossible to clean the back windows on either the back of the truck or the front glass of the cap.
3) The hidden sharp edges that always cut my hands when I'm cleaning under the console or under the seats.
4) Forgetting to move the center shifter from park to drive, etc., and getting these areas cleaned and dressed.
5) Cleaning the glass and discovering clear Scotch Tape on the interior windows.

I'm sure we could all add to these lists but let's bring the new year in with a smile! Happy New Year!

Personally, I hate glass cleaning of any kind, and those who insist on dirtying the glass in the first place. I like my glass crystal clear with a strict clean it and never touch it ever approach.

Also, not too fond of detailing under body's. Just a pain in the butt without a hoist, and you always manage to get yourself completely filthy at the same time.

And the obvious, people who insist on having "new" cars because they believe anything older is inferior in some warped way.

In the same mannor, those people who do insist on having "new" or "the best," that are willing to plop down several thousands of dollars on this vehicle, and can not justify taking care of it at all.

No weekly wash and vacuum.

No Quick Detail's

No bi-monthly, or even annual waxes/complete details.

etc etc etc.

How the h*ll can these people spend all that cash and not bother to have any respect for their purchase?

That one burns me.

And finally the real big one:

Dust.

Why can't it just, you know...... Go away? Or at least, avoid my cars?

:)

1) Minivans. They're big vehicles but usually their owners are very price conscience.

2) Etched in Bird Spots/Water Spots on paint. Stains that are impossible to remove from windshield.

3) Detailing when it's cold.

4) Baked on brake dust

5) Impossible stains.

6) Driving by PDQ (butcher shop wash place uses bristles/polyester drying towels but is the most popular car wash) and seeing Hummers and Mercedes driving out and being dried down with those towels!!!!

Most have been covered by everyone else except...

1) the now crystallized coke that was spilled in the cup holder...did you ever see a piece of lettuce inside crystallized coke syrup? I have :(
(I always wonder how long that took to get that way)

2) The supersized frenchfry under every seat, actually it is a combination of 100 happy meals from the kids who happen to spill a fry or two everytime they eat in the car.

You guys have done a great job on your lists so I'll ad a couple more.

1. Dried concrete on a work truck
2. Chocolate milkshake, Pat O'Brien Hurricane Vomit, and or Coca Cola on someone's headliner.
3. Diesel soot behind white vehicle's emblems.

I detailed my brother-in-laws vehicle after their move from Minnesota to Claifornia, and I developed a few pet peeves from that.

1. Oil on the rear of the car from the leak that has gone on for far too long.

2. Coke and coffee cups that have been left in the front of the car and the little bit in the bottom that has spilled out and stained the carpet.

3. The box of Cheez-Its that was spilled in the back and stepped and sat on by their five year old son.

4. The undefineable sludges in the cupholders and center console.

5. The worst, was a chicken wing under the driver seat that looked like it had been there for some time.

That last one is the reason that I have never offered to clean their car again.

A few more to add to the list....

- People that expect you to work miracles in an hour or two.

- Soccer Mom vans generally suck!

- Maybe it's just me, but I don't get much out of detailing a car/van/truck that's used for commercial purposes and you know it will look like sh** again in a few days.

Hmm....pet peeves...
#1 This ones easy: The use of the word "flake" when refering to a pearl or metallic paint job.

#2 Minivans in general.

I have to agree with you on all points there mgm2003.

Have done a few myself.

1. Coke all over the interior
2. "Snot Rockets" on the door panels and windows
3. Crayon marks on door panels and Leather Seats.
4. "Booger Farms" I have a customer who I assume has some sinus issues because I contsantly find a booger patch underneath the drivers seat YUK

Yuck Robb2017! I hope you charge extra! Maybe you could leave a little travel pack of tissues on the console for this customer # 4.

a few more....

hair all over fabric interiors (I have a lady that sheds her red hair everywhere)
cars with heavy odors
stained trim from a previous detail
faded headlight covers

THE BIG ONE...Have you ever had a customer stand there and talk to you while your trying to work? Especially when they're asking a thousand questions

I don't know if this is true for anyone else but I hate women's cars in general most times. Every time my mother or my neighbor wants me to "clean" their cars I cringe. (They have EVERYTHING mentioned above, plus cigarette ashes/smoke... :faint: )
