Top of the Line Question

I plan on purchasing some WET LOOK Tire Dressing from top of the line, and wanted to know if there is anything else that is a must have before I make my purchase. The prices seem very inexpensive, for ex. $4.95 for a light cut swirl remover.

Exactly! The Hi-Temp and TOL products are very quality ones. I personally use light cut, along with a few others here on DC. The price is sweet, and I just got my order in the other day. I think 32oz is only $9, and that would last a while too. I am going to try Medium Cut as well. I am also a big fan of Paint Perfection Glaze. It has Light cut as a base, but then leaves a Polymer sealant behind, making it an ultimate All in One product. I have followed light cut up with this with great results. If you do a search in DC, you should find some work Anthony Orosco and I did with those products.

For an overall great paste Carnauba, I would suggest Pizzaz. It's only like $24, but you get 24oz. which is 2x, 3x, and 4x the amount of others at a very reasonable price. It does have a great wet look very similar to P21S ($32 @ 6oz) and makes silvers look wet as well.

Trade Secret is the ultimate in wetness, especially on a black or other dark colored vehicle. Yes it costs $32, but that is better than the $70 Pinnacle Souveran will run you, and it's the same formula, also made by Pinnacle.

They have some fantastic products, and I could pull my invoices and go on forever about them. I would suggest doing a search in DC and see whatelse you pull up.
 
Like Nick said, top of the lines products are great. I use the wet-look dressing. It is a little messy, but a great overall dressing. Hi-temp's grape dressing, sold by TOL is good also, with less gloss than wet-look. All of Hi-temps products are great. I have almost everything made by Hi-temp that TOL sells, and they all work very well. The products sold by TOL with the TOL name on them are also good. TOL's wheel wash and the deep down leather cleaner are great products. TOL also carries countless other supplies such as towels, brushes, etc.
 
I'll second that TS (Trade Secret) along with Hi Temp Lite cut are must haves. If your a Klasse fan they have the best prices for it . Bubble Bath is nice to.

Man, when this rumor gets around, it will really put the hurt on Pinnacle sales!
 
Hi Temp...

After seeing the results of these products from Anthony Orosco and Nickc0844, I have no alternative but give them a try. I am ordering the Hi-Temp medium cut and light cut this week.:cool
 
Rumor's??, this weekend many of us saw first hand that Natty's is in the same league with Souveran, and Natty's is only $15.

Yes, a "rumor" is a statment "not" based on facts! If some one feels that two products look the same.......... that's one thing........ to say they are the same forumula.......... is another.

To get back on topic, I also agree that the TS is a fine product, and highly recommended. TOL also has some pretty neat accessories that are hard to pick up elsewhere.
 
Another TS lover here! I would also check out the EZ detail brush, a must have for me when detailing engines or behind my wheels.
 
Whats everyone like better, Wet Look or Grape dressing? I ordered grape last week but it won't be here til friday. At the time that I placed my order, I wasn't sure which one of the two I should get...

Where did you read that someone said it was the same formula ?
 
Nick has been saying its the same formula for a while now. According to him, he got that information from TOL. So apparently it wasn't read from anywhere but it is a claim made by the manufacturer. There has been no solid evidence of this one way or the other thus far...
 
I haven't requested the formula on paper yet, but as Boss said, there has to be AT LEAST one chemical difference. Whether TS has 59% Carnauba and Souveran has 60%, I do not know. I trust this source though. Dave is also right in saying that you shouldn't compare the two initally, but also down the road. I did 1/2 of a hood with Souveran, and 1/2 with TS.....two weeks later, I still couldn't tell the difference. It might hurt Pinnacle for knowing this, but shame on them for charging $70 for it.

Regardless, I still find many enjoyable and affordable products from TOL!

My sources tell me there are more differences between Souveran & TS than one might think. Irregardless, if you like TS as much as Souveran, by all means use it, as it is a fine carnauba. If I remember correctly, I was one of the ones that recommended it to you.

I certainly understand your feeling about buying products that are over-priced. I felt the same way about Adam's products.

I saw TS on Boss' Charcoal Grey Metallic F150 and I must say it looked striking!

BTW....no paste wax will have 59% or 60% carnauba. If it did it would be a brick. For high quality pastes, high teens or low twenty % is usually about the norm (significantly less for a liquid wax). I think I recall reading that one of the Zymol pastes, the one you have to heat up and apply with the palm of your hand, has something like 36% carnauba.

I agree with you Nick.....Pinnacle has nerve charging $70.00 for an 8oz tin of car wax. But, since people are buying it my guess is the price won't be coming down too far anytime soon.
 
Natty, I have an old container of paste wax made by surluster that is 75% carnauba. If you let it dry to a haze it will weld itself to the finish!!!

Could that number just be referring to the types of waxes in the can, rather than all the ingredients as a whole? Maybe 30% of the total ingredients are waxes with 75% of those being of the carnauba variety. The other 25% of the waxes could be bees wax, parafin, etc. :dunno Just guessing here.
 
^ Totally possible. I am just going by the claim on the can of "made with 75% #1 carnauba wax." We all know about manufacturer's claims, :rolleyes:
