Pad cleaning.....a number of ways.
Cleaning during detail:
One good method is to put the pad on a rotary, spin it. You can use a nylon brush or a terry cloth towel across the pad to clean it as it spins. If you use the towel, be careful....you could really mess up your fingers if it get's caught the wrong way.
You can also use a dry clean terry cloth towel to pat the pad dry. Press it against the pad to draw the product out.
Final Cleaning after done with detail:
1. just let it dry and then when you use it, just hit it with the flat part of your hand to remove the loose product. If you have over saturated your pad, this may not work too well.
2. when the pad is wet, you can use a clean terry cloth towel to draw the product out....by pressing the towel into the pad.
3. you can wrap the pad in the terry cloth towel and then roll the pad up with the towel inside...which will absorb much of the product....similar to number 2 above.
4. you can put your pad on a rotary buffer and spin off the product. I have a rotary buffer and like this procedure. After the initial product is spun off I use a terry cloth towel across the pad as it is spinning. You could also use a nylon toothbrush.
5. I had problems early on with putting too much #83 on a pad (when using a pc). After it dried, there was a crust on the outer edge of the pad....not a good thing. I soaked the pad in water with dawn liquid soap. Then used a brush to get the crust off of the outer edge. After that I spun the pad dry with the rotary and it looks like a new pad. So far the pad is holding up well.
Hope this helps!
I'm sure there are other pro's out there who have their own ways of cleaning pads.
