Yesterday I spent some time polishing my TA. I didn't get anywhere near finished but I enjoyed the time I spent on it. While looking the car over I decided it's time to remove some items and really clean it up. Last time I removed the cowl and cleaned all the junk from under it. This time I want to pull the spoiler and really polish the hatch and underside of the spoiler. Not sure how long that will take but I'll try to make time soon.

This got me to thinking, have you ever gotten into a detail and once you finish you say "I went a little over board on that one?" I've said a lot over the years, for example: I bought a used truck one time and while it wasn't dirty inside it jus wasn't as clean as I like. It had some cat hair in areas and it had a faint smoke smell that would appear when it got real hot. One thing lead to another and before you knew it I had pulled out the whole interior and had it all in the yard. There was not a speck of dirt to be found once I finished.

I wish I had the ability to pull a large amount of stuff like that If you pull and detail at your leisure across a long span of time, I don't see anything wrong with it but remember if the vehicle is a daily driver just the basic washing and detailing is probably going to take up most if your time

Guilty as charged! Though the way I see it, if a customer wants to pay for overboard, I'm more than happy to go there.

I used to make a living going overboard!!!!:bigups

I must bow my head and raise my hand. "I'm John and am guilty of going overboard."
Heck sometimes I get back in the boat and jump again before I'm finished.

some call it over board i call it true detailing, some stuff you just cannot get to without removal. like for instance of my 94 celica the underside of the rear spoiler needs correction and the trunk lid needs correction also, the 2 spots i have missed(wouldn't miss this on a customer car but mine not a big deal lol) and have now became an eyesore, so i will remove spoiler to correct underside of it and the lid under the spoiler so i don't need to do it by hand.just depends on the job and how the person is who owns the car, some just want clean swirls, some want every piece of paint polished even inside the emblems...so overboard?, i don't think so. you just have obsessive compulsive detailing disorder!

To me its either the job done right the first time or not. You also have to look at what you and the customer have set up as expatiation's of what the end result is going to be. If the customer is looking for a 100% correction of all points of the car, then overboard is not the term, its doing the job right.

I think it's time for everyone to keep
posting some true paint restorations on regular vehicles and others. We all are doing the same thing. Promoting the industry benefits us all. Those of us who are here committed to doing it right understand. It just takes one person wh
