TOL Protective Tape, anyone try it?

Anyone try the protective body tape from topoftheline?

Supposedly you can put it on paint and remove it at any time without damage or residue to your paint.

I was looking at putting it on the inside of my wheels, the part I can't get into, in order to preserve it. Anything's got to be better than a years worth of caked on brake dust, cause eventually I'll probably sell the wheels and get new ones with the proceeds.

I went and saw it .... AH crap I should have saved the link. Sorry.

I dunno if it would protect but how will it hold up to road salt and the heat. I wonder what the glue is?

Interesting though wonder if you could make a gas cap filler guard thingy out of it???

Hey Steve, I really like the inside of the wheel idea. I'd agree with anything being better than caked on brake dust but I just thought of something: heat.

Heat will easily melt thin plastic like that, and then perhaps you'd have a mess on your hands with parts of the tape coming off and parts not. This may make an adhesive removing product necessary.

However, it does say it can be waxed over, so why not klasse under it and klasse over it so that you have greater protection from it?

Cyber--Oops, I just noticed you mentioned heat:rolleyes:. As far as the gas drip protector we've been discussing, I'm not sure it would work. It would be noticeable in the middle of a panel all on its own with no lines or trim to hide or shadow the slight difference of it.

what if you use it on the outside of a black car, shouldn't that generate a lot of heat too? They did say that it is made out of a special tape, so it should be resistant to high temperatures.

Steve-

I think the tape would be sufficiently resistant to heat to be fine on the outside of a car, but my concern was the very hot brake dust being deposited onto the tape you're thinking about putting on your wheels.

I wonder if the Klasse idea would protect against this? I'm thinking it would help since many Klasse their wheels.
