I received a call from my favorite client this morning...my wife's boss. He asked me if I could come out to his "garage" to do a car today, but in my hurry to get packed and on my way, I forgot to ask him what car I would be doing.
When I arrived, he informed me that today's project was his custom 1949 Mercury! The car is a true show car, and in great shape. All I had to do was do some very minor polishing to remove some swirls, wax and polish the chrome.
Since the car is not driven often, I did not want to wash it down. My fear is water pooling and settling for several weeks in between drives, and that is just begging for rust. The car had a light layer of dust, so I blew off what I could with my shop vac and quick detailed the rest of the car. The rest is as follows:
Menz 106ff/Blue 6" Edge Pad/1500 RPMs
DK Foam Pad Glaze/Cyclo w/White Pads
CG Butter Wet Wax by Hand using MF Applicator Pad
I also used the CG Wax to polish the chrome. Now, for the photos!!!
Before (the Trans Am in the background is a future detail)

After

The money shot!!!

A few shots of a 1961 Impala I did for him last week. Process was the same as the Merc, minus the Polishing step. Sorry, no befores as I didn't have my camera with me when I detailed it.

I'm not sure if I am more proud of the way the Merc turned out, or the garage I have the pleasure to work in on a weekly basis!
