I don't get what you're saying. Are you comparing waxing to sealing? If so, close this thread now because you're asking to start an opinion war.

I am also confused as to what you're asking. Many people prefer sealants due to their better durability, so they don't use waxes. Others prefer the look of carnauba so they are willing to accept the decreased durability.

I'll extend an olive branch to ya, Bob:
I simply love using quality detailing products! I use both sealants & waxes........Sometimes synthetic sealants alone.........Sometimes a combo of Sealants & Carnauba Waxes........Sometimes Carnauba Waxes alone. I've stated many times through posting replies to threads that durability is not a concern of mine due to the fact that I wax or seal frequently. I'm always doing an exterior detail on my truck once or most times even twice a month. ( I am a waxaholic, ya know ) So in an attempt to answer your question of " To wax or not", I would say that it depends on what your goals are. If you're looking for products that will give you longterm protection & you only want to detail about once every 3 months, use a synthetic sealant. When applied properly ( wash, clay, prep etc...) Zaino will give you the best of all worlds. Zaino provides atleast 5-6+ months of protection from the elements in addition to providing a terrific finish. (gloss,depth,reflectiveness,wetlook etc ) If you're looking to stay within that 3 month window, Klasse, Autoglym,WG,EX- P, EX w/Carnauba, UPP ( just to name a few of my favorites ) will meet your needs. If your a completely passionate detailing freak, waxaholic type, like myself ( LONG LIVE AUTOPIANS! ) and you treat your collection of high quality carnauba waxes better than your wives, girlfriends, kid's, pets etc ( lol ) & you feel the need to wax every 2 weeks or so ( because that's what carnauba crazed Autopians do :spot ) then by all means.........Use a carnauba, my friend! Some may tell you that a carnauba wax will last roughly 4-6 weeks in most cases, I prefer to think that carnaubas should be re applied every 2 to 4 weeks. I love the look of Souveran, P21S, Meg's #26 & Trade Secret on my black truck. When I'm in "Carnauba Mode" I can't keep my hands off my truck! It's like having a new girlfriend!! ( not really, but you get the point right?? ) No matter what you decide, make sure it starts with a good prep. ( wash, clay, polish ) This has been a very longwinded way of saying "Do what works best for you"!!

Think about what a wax is, it is glorified chapstik. When you put it on your car it will attract grime more than an polymer sealant. Wax melts, polymers donâ€â„¢t (At least they don't at the temperatures cars are exposed too). Furthermore, sealants are no longer stale looking, they are becoming more wetter and deeper with every formulation. The first time I tried Z2pro I committed that I will be waxless when I run out of my stock. It looks like the best nuba to me period. And you can leyer and layer and layer it. Only needs to be stripped when you have to address swirls. Even with other sealants like Wolfgang and NXT and a host of others, the look is close to a nuba w/o the baggage of the nuba. Nuba still has it's place in detailing, just not in my garage.

The Z5/Z2 Pro/Z6/Z8 combo is the closest Nuba look I've seen from a synthetic sealant product line. Infact, It might even be a better look than Nuba. ( once again, subjective )
